10 Years in Mafiascum

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Sun Jun 11, 2017 7:38 pm

Post by Claus »

I was vaguely aware that my 10th scum day was coming. I was planning to post then, but I missed it because of course I did.

This is so bizarre.

MS was the last online society I ever felt myself a part of. Before it there was Nexus Wars, and before that urban dead, and before that Aardwolf Mud, and IRC. Then I started to drift away from MS and nothing really took its place -- I lurk some local subreddits but nothing.

I really miss this. But I never managed to get it back. I post in a few threads, lurk in others, but I don't feel it anymore :-(

I wish you all the best!

Welcome to the 10 years club! We have special hats! Or eggs, whatever!
One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.

Shaft.ed! Why do you think I'm posting here right now? ;-) Know that every time I decide to try lurking here again, one of the first things that I do is to check on your recent posts. Do you feel my stalker-ish love yet? :-P

Sudo, thank you!

Max - I still remember your "dead people have powers" game. It was pretty fantastic to play. As for life updates, I'm going through my mid-life crisis, nothing special :-P Also, I just found out that in my university there is actually a group that does research on developing Artificial Intelligence agents for Mafia games. They even have a national conference. I am studying up to see if I can contribute something there, but Natural Language Processing (specially in Japanese) is definitely not my forte :-/

I think swapping out the killer santa avatar was to lull us into a sense of security

On related news,

There has been for about 3 years a "Special Interest Group" working on creating AI agents for mafia games at the Japanese society of AI... I have been procastinating joining them because
the prospect of doing Natural Language Processing in Japanese was pretty terrifying. But just a few minutes ago a student I am supervised just showed up with a super thick book with
"programming AI agents for Mafia games".

I guess I'll have to add that to my plate now - It is cool and scary at the same time :-)
