Honestly

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Thu Jul 06, 2017 2:51 pm

Post by Firebringer »

Honestly was talking to some friends today and we discussed honestly the over usage of honestly in conversations when someone was trying to be honest.

And honestly, I think that was a very honest point.

We shouldn't say we are honest when we want to honestly say a point.
We should honestly say we are being dishonest because thats more honestly interesting than saying you are being honest.

Honestly its the right way to have honest conversations.

Honestly, it literally bothers me when people honestly have to literally say those two words all the time, to be honest. In my opinion, we should honestly stop using those words because it becomes literally redundant

I have a couple of bad speech habits. Ones I've noticed are starting too many sentences with also and using "um actually" when correcting people (though the second one hasn't come up much in recent times)

I use the word "like" randomly in sentences where it is not necessary way too often, I'm not a Geordie or anything though it is awful

remember that time when curiouskarmadog was playing mafia and called someone out for saying "to be honest" because it assumed a break from a mindset of being dishonest

and he was scum in that game and later told everyone it was total on-the-spot malarkey

but by that time everyone was using it as this brilliant tell

Problem I'm having is during presentations. There is a verbal virus here where people show data in their talk and say "as you can see." I've never made this statement before, but now have to actively suppress it while giving talks. And it drives me nuts when I hear other people saying it. It's a completely useless phrase that does nothing for the listener. Worst was someone came to give a talk, and every time literally every single time he referred to data on his slide he would see "as you can see, is that you can see that..." It was like BDSM in lecture form

Honestly in my opinion I actually kind of like maybe sort of possibly in a way sometimes think to myself that it is indeed potentially, to be frank with you

I stopped using it as much also I found that every time I felt like using it was to say something almost irresponsibly harsh as a kind of excuse adverb so now I work on just saying better things
deranged and incoherent
