MBTI Types

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Mon Aug 28, 2017 11:13 am

I was wondering what kind of personality types there are.
I could not fit all 16 options into the poll because it restricts me to 15. So I decided to base it off of the 16Personalities groups. Please announce your full type, including the fifth letter, in thread.

I am an Architect (INTJ-T), however, I was very close to both INTP-T and ENTJ-T. Looking at stuff online, I sometimes feel more similar to some of the other NTs rather than INTJ.

My exact results were:
59% Introverted
77% Intuitive
86% Thinking
54% Judging
86% Turbulent

Yes, but the poll on the previous one was closed. I have this one set so the poll is never-ending. I also wanted to look more specifically at the 16Personalities groups rather than all 16 types individually.

It has. Oh, well.

I was always ENFP every time I took the test but now I feel like my social anxiety has pushed me closer to INFP. I've always been between the E/I, though. Really depends on context for most situations. The thing is I don't like being alone and I'm better in the company of others, but I am shy! But shy extroverts are a thing.

My boyfriend is ISTJ. I mentioned this. I can't believe in Myer's Briggs anymore because they get hung up on how ISTJ - ENTP is like the worst relationship pairing. That's BS. I think the labels are fun but I don't think anyone should take them to mean anything re: choosing jobs and relationships.
is this where I tell you to swipe right

It has been estimated that between a third and a half of the published material on the MBTI has been produced for the special conferences of the Center for the Application of Psychological Type (which provide the training in the MBTI, and are funded by sales of the MBTI) or as papers in the Journal of Psychological Type (which is edited and supported by Myers–Briggs advocates and by sales of the indicator).[41] It has been argued that this reflects a lack of critical scrutiny.[41] Many of the studies that endorse MBTI are methodologically weak or unscientific.[9] A 1996 review by Gardner and Martinko concluded: "It is clear that efforts to detect simplistic linkages between type preferences and managerial effectiveness have been disappointing. Indeed, given the mixed quality of research and the inconsistent findings, no definitive conclusion regarding these relationships can be drawn."[9][42]

This website does a good job of selling but a piss poor job of presenting evidence for its claims. Also, the visual design of that questionnaire needs to not only be sent back to the factory but also thrown into a dumpster fire. Who thought it was a good idea to change the size of certain answer choices in a measure that depends on people answering honestly? Come on.

Anyway, rude bashing aside, a big problem is that 16Personalities claims to be based on the Meyers-Briggs Type Indicator while changing it so that it's a mish-mash of the Big Five personality traits (openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism) and whatever they added to create five new traits for what appears to be "just because". That's not how theory works; they need to substantiate their claims, and their "Our Theory" page does anything but that.

The MBTI is way over-hyped and misused. An unfortunate effect of how it's constructed is that your personality type can change simply because you've answered something differently (i.e., made different decisions). It takes only a few questions where you've changed your answer to put you in an entirely different category. If you're scoring 52% Extraverted today but 48% tomorrow, then that's the difference between an "E" result and an "I" result. Consider that there are four types where this can happen, and you can have drastically different results and profiles depending on how you were reading the questions that day, especially if you don't typically score in the extremes. Oops!

Basically, it's a fun exercise, but treat it as entertainment and not as a long-lasting testament to who you are as a human being.

Hey Altomancer, how're things?
Also, what is NM doing? Worst play I’ve ever seen.
I can't remember the last N_M post that wasn't bland, unimaginative and lame. Some shitposters are at least somewhat funny. You are the epitomy of the type of poster that nobody would miss if you were to suddenly disappear. You never add anything of value.
I'm guessing you haven't read the game and probably never will? Why even sign up to play?
