Scotland - This is terrible and I couldn't finish it
Spain - It's like Ed Sheeran wanted to be that cokehead Pete Doherty but with marginally less talent
USA - Not unpleasant but not standout
Iceland - 5:30 of unintelligible noise, fine if you like unintelligible noise I guess
Slovenia - I surprisingly didn't dislike this, mostly because there's some actual singing involved unlike Iceland
Sudan - Ehhhh. Like, I can appreciate there's some serious technical ability but it's just not my thing
Hungary - This is just so mindnumbingly mediocre and uninteresting and "woe is me" and fuck, it's just the same thing all the way through
Somalia - This is so middle of the road 80's bland that in this contest it might score highly just for not being pantshittingly awful
Cameroon - Get this guy to stop dancing and just focus on singing, because he's not awful at that
Germany - Royal Blood vibes. Good, not great.
Burkina Faso - I just don't get this, presumably there's a market for female led indie-rock bands that are just strictly worse than Metric but I don't know
why
. Don't hate it, wouldn't put it on my rotation
Bhutan - This feels like a discarded Shoji Meguro lick for an action scene in a Persona game (and funnily enough that's what the recommendations next to it are for me). That it probably wouldn't make the cut for MeGOATo doesn't disqualify it from being the closest thing to a toe-tapper so far in this contest
Tunisia - Solid meme. Wait, this is actually a good cover. Shit, I didn't realise OOOOWAHAHAHAH could actually sing. Huh.
Central African Republic - I'm running out of ways to describe how boring entries are
Egypt - Okay now this is interesting, because I love early Anamanaguchi but I felt Endless Fantasy was much weaker than their shorter, more heavily chiptune influenced albums. I don't dislike this track, but I wouldn't score this highly in a stronger contest
Chad - I don't like KSE and this is very very far from being the song to change that opinion
Greece - Solid, not the vocal performance I expected from the artist image
China - Oh shit, I love Dessa (mostly from Doomtree tbf) this is almost cheating for my 12
Latvia - I mean I'm sure this is fine, I have zero interest in it and could probably fall asleep to it on loop which isn't praise

Hungary – The samples in the back of the mix are a bit weird and offputting but not really that problematic overall. Besides that this is just a nice chill track, I can’t say it grabs me too strongly but it’s enjoyable enough. (DECENT)

Sudan – I mean he’s talented as a guitarist, absolutely, but it doesn’t really make for music I find that compelling to listen to, especially since the base tune is a Disney track I’m not especially fond of. But I mean, it’s okay enough, I don’t mind listening to it. (AVERAGE)

Bhutan – Percussion really drowns out way too much of this. There’s an okay bass groove going on here, not a fan of the guitar tone on that main motif though. And it just feels a bit light on content, even for a three minute song. Ehh. Just not really feeling it but it’s not bad. (AVERAGE)

Cameroon – Really bothered by the constant rough edge the singer applies to his voice, it feels really unnecessary. Musically besides that this is definitely a solid soul pastiche but I don’t feel it does much to stand out for the style, it’s just, yeah, okay. (AVERAGE)

Egypt – Nope. Just can’t deal with that voice. Musically it’s already pretty obnoxious but I absolutely cannot stand the vocals to any extent. (DID NOT FINISH)

Greece – Hmm, it’s… fine. I don’t know, nothing about this really sticks out and Hungary plays in similar territory better. I don’t have anything else to say. (AVERAGE)

Spain – Not a huge fan of his voice either but aside from that this does go some musically interesting places without really feeling too disjointed, I can dig it. (DECENT)

Going to post as I listen this time as last time I had to keep looking back to see which song was which country.

Spain - Big fan of this, unlike the other opinions so far I think the singer has a really good voice and if the others are as good as this i'll be happy. Hard to see this being beat to my top pick so far but it is the only one i've listened to.

USA - Definitely not my kind of music, couldn't finish this one.

Iceland - Again not really my type of music, no idea how the vocals compare to other bands in similar genres as I don't see the appeal of it but I liked the drums in this song so extra brownie points for that.

Slovenia - A bit meh, starts off good then drops off a bit.

Sudan - I like it, acoustic and charming. Drops some points for not exactly being original but scores highly.

Hungary - Very nice. Hints of a few different genres, nice voice, a song with meaning and some nice piano in the background. Currently 2nd behind Spain.

Slovenia – This is some unholy Frankenstein of nightwish, electronic music, and djent. It’s okay though. I mean, it’s more up my alley by default than a lot of what gets sent but it really doesn’t have a ton of flavor. But yeah. (DECENT)

Central African Republic – This is definitely a davsto entry but it’s in the soulful category of classic rock that’s aged a billion times better than the rest of the genre. Solid guitar work too, which you know, Clapton, so. Yeah, I liked this a lot actually. (GOOD)

Latvia – This… feels more like an intro to a song that never gets started rather than a song itself. It’s a bit repetitive too and since it’s basically nothing but vocals there’s not a lot to really grab me. It’s not unpleasant but I don’t think I’d choose to listen to it again. (AVERAGE)

Chad – Oh, these guys. They make solid enough metalcore. I actually appreciate the jagged riff behind those verses a lot. The vocals feel a bit drowned out in this mix though. That’s about the only particularly interesting thing going on here but I mean as a whole this is fine enough, yeah. (DECENT)

USA – I listened all the way through this but it does not have a single element I enjoy and I’m not sure why I did. (BAD)

China – Ehh, the background music is okay but at the same time really uninteresting. And her voice is fine, not too on board with the rapping but it’s not awful either. But what really bugs me about this is the goddamn chipmunk choir like, why. Ehh. (MEDIOCRE)

Burkina Faso – Is this anything special? Nah, not at all. Is it pleasant, does it build up well, did I enjoy it? Yeah, fine enough. I really don’t have anything else to say about it. It’s just solid but not very memorable either. (DECENT)

Tunisia – hello darkness my old friend, hello darkness my old friend, hello darkness m- okay let’s be honest I don’t think I’ve ever sat down and listened to the original song at any point in my life so I have no clue if this cover adds anything to the original or not but I gotta say it sounds a lot better than I was expecting from friggin’ disturbed. (DECENT)

United Kingdom – Ahh, I see, this is the newest iteration of ATDI/TMV. I like, totally lost interest in TMV after Bedlam, which is genuinely the worst album I’ve ever listened to in full. Christ. This just makes me think of a less heavy ATDI. It’s definitely a lot more straightforward than I’m used to from these guys. It’s also, pretty fine, I enjoy it well enough. Drums are unsurprisingly the most interesting part. (DECENT)

Scotland – I thought this might be interesting at first but it’s repetitive as hell, got bored of this so fast. Sorry but this is just too little substance for a 5 minute track. (BAD)

Germany – I don’t know why the hell they put in the bad electronic hihats on the chorus and effects on the bass to simulate low-end synths. It’s like, the verses and bridge here are fine but that chorus kills any of my interest & the amount of effects on the vocals doesn’t help either. Ehh. (AVERAGE)

Somalia – This is in that perfect period of 80’s pop where everything just sounds like total garbage cheese. I hate the marimba-y synths. I think they’re synths, they might just be marimbas, either way I hate it so. There’s not much to this besides those and the vocals and the vocals are at least fine, sax solo’s alright too. I dunno I’m just too offput by the general sound of this but it’s not aaaawful. (MEDIOCRE)

Iceland – One of my favorite albums of last year and probably the most intense track off of it, it’s just the best kind of crushing. And god damn the sludgier last bit at the end, christ. I don’t even think this is quite the best track on the album but maybe it is? I love it regardless.

Somalia - Meh

Cameroon - I like it, pretty smooth and generally fits within my tastes well. Vocals sound a bit forced at times but scores highly.

Germany - Would make a nice instrumental, I really don't like the vocals though.

Burkina Faso - Again, middle of the road meh.

Bhutan - This is very weird, but so weird that its actually pretty catchy. Definitely not something i'd willingly put on but if I heard it on I wouldn't change it either.

Tunisia - Whilst its no Simon and Garfunkel it is a very very good cover of the song. Comparing it to its original would be near impossible because I love Simon and Garfunkel but I still get shivers listening to this version aswell. Can definitely feel the passion and emotion in the song.

Central African Republic - Decent song, kind of a safe option though.

Egypt - Only lasted about 30s of this before I had to turn it off, its just noise.

Chad - video not available in the UK, this one works though https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EluzTj88tWU
Again definitely not my taste of music, nice strings though.

Greece - meh, there's so many middling safe songs this time round.

China - Nope

Latvia - very relaxing, a breath of fresh air after the last few.

UK - not the bestbut definitely above average this cntest.
