On hard knocks: I wouldn't mind the Lions because we'd get an incompetent asshole coach being revolted on by his team.

In post 896, shaft.ed wrote:I just don't understand why Philly's defense plays better with Foles in the game.
Is it because he has less horrible turnovers than Wentz? Do the coaches put more load onto the running game giving more rest for the D? Did Schwartz finally settle on the optimal D-back combo? But why is the pass rusher back to full form?
This isn't philly specific but Mike Lombardi said on his podcast defenses play better in November and December because they play more conservatively instead of selling out for big plays and getting crushed like in earlier games.

In post 899, PokerFace wrote:Foles has been good and bad in previous years. His good years have been in Philly so I can understand he wants to stay there. Wentz likely has a longer career ahead of him. I think it really comes down to which one can you make the better deal off of.

MIA, JAX, DEN, NYG, WAS, CIN?, TB?, TEN? (Marriota has skill but he gets hurt a bit too much) are in the market for new QBs next year. I wouldn't be willing to give Wentz or Foles within the division. Other teams I'd be fine with making the deal if the price is right.

I hope Alex Smith recovers well from his injury, you hate to see that kinda thing happen. I think WAS should consider Fitzmagic as their temp replacement for Alex. I don't think Fitz has played there yet, but I could be wrong
I'm starting to increasingly think that scheme is more important to the success of your team than your QB. Pederson is saying he's asking Wentz to do more/Foles to do less, maybe that has to do with it. Wentz has good advanced metrics but the team looks flat. By the advanced stats, he's the 11th-14th best guy. Depending on what the Foles deal becomes, it might be worth it to trade Wentz even though he's better.

thats actually a good point
I see Wentz costing more than Foles once the rookie deal is over

saving money on your QB is a great strategy

Wentz is only 1 more year on the cheap, but that cheap year might entice someone like the giants to go hard for a trade.

wouldn't the Jags be more likely to think themselves a complete team minus a star QB with a soon closing window?

Jags are 100% going hard for a QB this offseason.

Well, Cody Parkey's probably packing his shit ready for the word he's getting cut right now.

Damn got 1 out of 4. I think KC/NE/NO/DAL winning this week

Cody Parkey used to be a browns kicker. We got rid of him for another guy we got rid of and replaced with Joseph. Sucks for the Bears. They should have looked to replace him earlier in the season given the kicks he missed throughout it. Some people think one of the Eagles tipped that kick at the end and changed its direction. I watched some replays and I don't see it changing direction or hitting the guys hand so I don't think I convinced about that

And yet....Parkey made three other field goals to put the Bears in the position to win. He's not that bad of a kicker. 86% for his career. Justin Tucker, the most accurate of all time, sits at 90%.

I don't place all the blame on parkey. I was referencing the Browns kicking woahs to some degree. Bears offense should have done better scoring other points. I don't think Mitch is the answer at QB for them. They should look to address that next year or the year after pending if they want to give him another shot. He's not the worse QB in the nfl, but I don't think he is good enough

Dickson's attempted drop-kick for an onside kick was hilarious when that shit doesn't work in football because the fair catch rule exists.

It was also a terrible kick holy fuck. Harder to do with a football than a rugby ball for sure, but he didn't get nearly as far under it as he needed to.

The fair catch rule doesn't apply to dropkicks because the ball touches the ground before the kick, making it a live ball.

Looks like nfl finally posted a good video of an eagle tipping the kick
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300000 ... -missed-fg
He does tip, but I can't tell if that cause it to change direction. Still this stuff should make Parkey happy

I feel like this is wrong? The drop kick on the kickoff is just a direct replacement for the tee.

A dropkick is a legal kick if the kicker drops the ball and kicks it as it hits the ground or immediately after it hits the ground and is considered a live ball (unlike a punt or place kick).

I kinda agree with this. He seems to shit the bed at times but then I've also seen him make some really nice throws. I guess the criticism here is that he only does well b/c of Nagy's system. I think they roll with him for the time being,

Also, who is ready for the Rams-Chiefs SB?
