But what if Russia beats Croatia?

Also France is going all the way so Uruguay had better start packing!

No and no.

Mboopi exposed a very bad Argentine defense. Uruguay are the best defense at the WC. It's a completely different level

I know Uruguay is a stellar team and the next game is going to be really great to watch. I just think France can do it if they keep solid team play in their attacks.

The biggest argument for France is actually Griezmann understanding Uruguay super well

Giroud will probably be trying to take the brunt of this i think (and is well capable of doing so). It should be interesting tho as France are one of the few teams that have quite a few options to switch it up, in the event of players playing poorly. The argentinian paper defense definitely made them look good, though.

I think it'll be an interesting game. Hope Cavani is fit, as he was so great last game.

Yeah, I'll be sad if Cavani is out. He made a great showing last game!

I don't think any of the French front 3 are good enough individually to take on the Uruguayan back 4 (nobody is), and France doesn't have the service from the midfield for some reason.

Are you from Uruguay or something? Why are you riding their defense's dick so hard? Godin is one of the best but the guys on the side are pretty mediocre and Jimenez is merely good. They are probably the 5th most talented defense left and they have probably the 7th best goalie. Why are you so crazy about them

Uruguay was the first NT I managed in FM.

Also calling Uruguay anything but a top 2 defense with Brazil is lol

Laxalt, Caceres, and especially Gimenez are all better than "good"

Belgium, France, brazil, and England all out class those guys fairly easily.

The English defense is definitely no where near as good, individually or collectively. Stones and Maguire are...well obviously not as good as Godin or Gimenez (Stones didn't even start for City at the end of the season) and Kyle Walker is a very good full back.

France have a decent defense, but did concede a few against an Argentina side struggling for goals and belgium are managed by Martinez who has historically never been able to set up a team defensively (and they play wingers as wing backs). The Belgian back three are real good individually though, it's just the wing backs I'd worry about. Brazil are strong defensively, tho I agree there.

I think both as individuals and and the way they set up helps the Uruguay defense - they're an incredibly strong unit and are supported amazingly by their midfield players. I think if you try to play through the centre they'll shut you down. I think the best chance France have is if they can get Griezmann or Mbappe running down the wings with the help of the fullbacks. Uruguay back four play fairly narrow.

Although I disagree with Bro that france can't get at them, especially since they look a bit more cohesive as a unit with Giroud there. The Uruguay defense aren'tunbeatable, they showed that against Portugal where an individual error cost them a goal. Given their high energy play and the energy factor required for tournament football a mental lapse isn't impossible.

I think this'll be a real interesting game though. This side of the draw is pretty exciting.

Faraday has a good response. Only thing I will add is that it helps that Godin and Gimenez play together at the club level. Cohesion between centerbacks is very important, and Uruguay very much has that.

The goal they conceded to Portugal was Gimenez being mortal on a set piece. Obviously it's better not to concede that, but fact is that they held Ronaldo to 0 goals and were mostly pretty confident in it (last 15 minutes got a bit scary, IMO)

Baited
Also, what is NM doing? Worst play I’ve ever seen.
I can't remember the last N_M post that wasn't bland, unimaginative and lame. Some shitposters are at least somewhat funny. You are the epitomy of the type of poster that nobody would miss if you were to suddenly disappear. You never add anything of value.
I'm guessing you haven't read the game and probably never will? Why even sign up to play?
