This seems a fitting time to start a Canadian Politics thread! Ontario just...

Uggh, we elected Doug Ford :facepalm:
Yup, the brother of Toronto's infamous Mayor is in power!

The Liberals didn't gain enough seats to be technically considered a Party in Ontario, and the Greens got their first ever seat in Ontario!!!

By the popular vote PC got a minority but their seats won them a Majority and that's sad.

Ironically, if Trudeau had just kept his word and revamped our voting systems, his party would be in a way better place right now!

What a day.

Hard to say, other than cutting taxes he doesn't have much of a proactive platform. He mostly ran on that and attack ads. (there is lots to say about him personally but you can google that).

The problem was that his preferred method (ranked choice) wasn't accepted in committee, and what they came back with an mmp recommendation, which Ontario voted against strongly in 2007 (like 70% of the vote was no).

1. It is not Canada's place to judge other countries society and risk upsetting an ally

True. I am kind of disappointed no other countries seem to be backing up Canada.

I have one acquaintance who is marrying an immigrant from Saudi Arabia and it looks like they may temporarily have to move there. Which kind of scares me because I've heard stories of women moving to Saudi Arabia with their spouse and then having a miserable time.
