GET BEHIND ME, SATAN
My last three games were like hemlock soup for the soul, and after each one I was like "this was traumatic enough that I won't need to worry about being tempted into another game".
I even refuse to play games like The Resistance IRL on principle. I climbed a tree to avoid playing One Night Ultimate Alien at Calimeet.

The problem with Mafia in a community setting is that either I'm weaponizing all the things you like about me against you, or you're spending the entire game paranoid that I'm weaponizing all the things you like about me against you (and of course the reverse applies as well). We could be playing any game that doesn't have hidden allegiances and
while you should probably still be paranoid
we could enjoy each others' company more freely.

(If you invert the argument, I'm saying that using Mafia games to punish people I don't like is way more satisfying than playing to win.
I think people have known this for the entire time we've been onsite, but they've rarely expressed it in these terms.)

Counteroffer: Host a meet; I'll bring board games.

Oh, cool! New job, or...?

I've got to see how many PTO days I have next year but odds are reasonable I'll be able to do May or something. ...Not July or August, speaking from experience.

yep! I work at a hospital writing reports. basically doctors ask me questions and I make a machine answer them every morning at 5am. its a little dull but the benefits are excellent.

as of right now I actually have a spare guest room but I'm kinda trying to find a roommate because lmao the california housing market is insane.

Actually,
Vi
, we did encounter once in a 2015 game.

http://forum.mafiascum.net/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=60902

I believe you were one head of a hydra. We both won as town. :o

I don't remember if you were the active head or not... I won't check, because I've learned never to reread games I played in 2015 lol... the cringe is too much.

(I might be thinking of someone else XP)

No... I'm not any of these people. ChriVi was a hydra of Chrimi and Viomi.

Although it looks like LlamaFluff hasn't been here in half a year.

Probably done with mafia but I appreciate how the game helped me think of communication and improved my ability to convey more complex and abstract thoughts and feelings. I used to be a lot more pessimistic when it came to people understanding each other because of just how different everyone's perspective in life will always be, but now it seems like given enough time and concerted effort you can communicate almost anything if you really wanted to.

You managed to pick the worst housing market in the state! Also, welcome to California. Enjoy the summer!

I very much doubt anybody here remembers me. I joined 2010, left 2012. This was during middle school for me. I only completed a couple games, and flaked out of a shameful amount of others. But this was the first (and only, really) forum that I ever posted on. I learned so much about the internet, and the world, thanks to you guys and gals. I loved browsing and posting in GD and Hamsterdam. I was introduced to anime. Madoka Magica was the first that I was convinced to watch thanks to you guys talking about it, and now I have watched 400+ hours of anime. I am sure this site is one of the reasons I consider myself "skeptical, but open minded" which are two traits I value highly. One of my favorite quotes of all time was from hasdgfas.

Anyway, this thread doesn't have much of a point, I just got reminded of my "internet origins" if you will, and thought I would share. I'm happy to see many of the same names still around. Thank you all for being cool people. I might join a game and start browsing again.

To open it up to other people: have you been changed as a person by this website? What have you learned or discovered from here?

PS please don't read my post history, I know I was cringy as a middle schooler, we all were.
I do, just decided to come back recently. In fact, we literally played our first Mafia game together. It certainly brings back memories of those times.

Anyway, I am glad that Mafiascum is chugging along as always. Never have I played a forum game nearly as entertaining as the scrap and scruffing that is a Mafia game and memories that come along with it.
