Machado to the Padres. It will be interesting to see how much better this makes them and what the financial terms are. 8 years, 160 million maybe?

Apparently 10 years 300M according to ESPN. I'm a little surprised.

If anyone is interested, we’re doing fantasy leagues again this year - the thread is in Mish Mash.

How much better did he make the Orioles when he was there?

I don't think that was because of Machado. Based on his WAR he gave them 31 wins over 7 years, and led the team in WAR in 4 out of his 7 years.

I'd still draft him.

Well of course not. My point was just that he didn't make a bad team a contender on his own there so I don't see why he would somewhere else. San Diego's lineup is actually kind of decent though. Of course he makes them better just like he made Baltimore better. I just don't think they are suddenly contenders.

San Diego has one of the best farm systems in the majors. They may not make the playoffs this year but two or three years down the road they could win the pennant.
