America and Canada's federal goverments suddenly vanish leaving all the subdivisions behind.

These subdivisions all go to war with each other.

We wonder, which subdivision would win?

And in this situation, no other country gets involved.

Alaska or the territories because they're cold and no one would invade them.

On the flip side, Alaska and the territories take more money from the federal governments than they give back. With those two gone, all four would experience an economic collapse.

The majority of Alaska is isolated from any road network so travel would be an issue (Though at least Alaska would own all the territory inside of the state). Though even with these problems, Alaska could take out the three territories since it outnumbers them seven to one. Then they could have oil access. Though with that, I'm sure others would try and invade them.

Another thing to consider is the federal (and state/province) military hardware that is present in various provinces, states and territories. If the Federal cohesion in both countries suddenly disappear, those forces and that hardware is going to end up in someone's hands. You could end up with a small population state, say North Dakota, with power disproportionate to their size because they house so many nuclear silos. Or like San Diego that has a large US Navy presence.

Yeah. Take out the war part. I don't know about Texas but I grew up in California and spent most of my life here. If the Federal Government just disappeared, I don't see the majority of Californians having a problem with that at all. Even if there was no subsequent war.

Though the problem with all the nukes is the close distance between the fighters would cause problems in their own areas.

I think Michigan and Ohio would fight each other.

Quebec would be happy.

The majority of places would economically collapse tbh.

California would flip on that whole wall business real fast. We'd wall out Arizona in less than a week.
