Man I know so many of the artists submitted this time
Temperance and Dark Tranquility are in the league of "solid metal bands that aren't really my thing" but they'll probably get decent points

Especially since I have 14 options for points lol

I might skip Monaco that song is super annoying

Sweden – Basically like I said. This is such a generic metal tune that I think my mind just phased it out entirely while I was listening to it. Nothing about it sounds bad but nothing about it stands out either and it stirs absolutely no emotions in me. (AVERAGE)

Iran – I got this confused with that one band that was in guitar hero, Band of Horses. This seems to be one of those memey video game bands. Iiiii. Never like those memey video game bands. I don’t see what the synths add to this, but it also sounds amateur as heck otherwise. Really muddy production, bad vocals, they fall off the rhythm a few times too. The break in the middle was okay I guess. The synths just feel so out of place though and the vocals are horrid lol. Eugh. (MEDIOCRE)

Slovenia – I mean, I know Temperance. They’re passable enough symphonic metal & the interplay between the two vocalists at least is -something-. The instrumentation is solid. It’s like, totally fine for what it is and it’ll probably get decent points with how few entries there are this time but I’m not too convinced by them either. (DECENT)

Latvia – I wanted to turn this off after I heard the first two seconds. When the verse started I stopped the video. Wasted 30 seconds determining this was garbage. Oh well.

Hungary – Not really my thing but it’s pleasant enough. Sounds like it could’ve come from some Disney movie honestly. Like one character singing to her sister but she’s an actor first and a singer second so she does a good enough job but it’s clear she’s not a professional either but then that’s what gives it its charm. (DECENT)

Monaco – Yeah this is the song I thought it was. This song is annoying as hell.

USA – Yeah, sure, I could go for some solid post-hardcore right now. Maybe it’ll grow on me with relisten since it seems like the kind of post-hardcore I tend to like, moody and melodic with decent intensity to it. You’d love the hell out of the Actor|Observer album I sent a song off of if you like this kind of stuff. I don’t think this particular song is amazing (lacks a solid hook for one) but it’s pretty solid regardless. (DECENT)

Iceland – So this album came out of nowhere and blindsided me with how much I like it, this is my favorite tune but really practically every song here is fantastic, this one just also conveniently has no harsh vocals so it’s more song contest-friendly by nature. Probably one of my picks for song of the year 2018, I’m thinking I’ll enter the other one next contest.

i sure hope i have enough songs to fill out a full set of 10 because i -would- take a ban over giving even miniscule points to a song i dislike

Well, looking at the countries we can vote for, a North Korea entry seems to be missing...
So in the case that this is true (which only Song Contest can know for sure), that's uhhh... unfortunate.

Cuz now most likely you gave away that you're probably North Korea. #feelsbadman, really :( :(

Central African Republic – This started off like really country but then it added a dance groove and started changing every so often. I didn’t really get much of any feeling from any of it but I didn’t dislike it either. (AVERAGE)

Bhutan – This was pretty fun and kept itself pretty diverse too. Don’t have a ton else to really say about it other than I liked it, yeah. (DECENT)

Greenland – Mmm the vocals are a bit too high-pitched and sterile for my tastes. The instrumentation itself is solid though not particularly strong, but with how much the vocals dominate this song I can’t really get too into it. (AVERAGE)

North Macedonia – Nice enough I guess but it’s kind of cheesy and corny & I don’t really like one of the vocalists too much either. Dunno, this just isn’t for me. (AVERAGE)

Liechtenstein – See, this doesn’t even really sound that bad, but the existence of this entire album kind of offends me? Weezer made a cover of Africa as a joke and then they got chart success from it somehow so they threw together a lazy covers album where they recording songs without any real twist on them (or at least, that’s what I’ve heard others say, this one + the Africa cover are enough evidence for me to believe it, I ain’t gonna go listen to the rest). So actually this blows. Weezer needs to retire.

Poland – I think this is the second time something off this album has been entered and I remember vaguely liking the one last time, and this one is pretty fine too, yeah. Plunderphonics is a genre that can really go badly without a decent amount of care put into it but this is a pretty solid arrangement that’s complex enough to at least warrant a second listen as well. (DECENT)

South Korea – I’m impressed she’s even trying anymore after how badly stuff like Hello Kitty from a few years back turned out. She basically seems to be trying to remake Kesha’s Praying here, or at least trying to repeat the success of it. And to be fair she has better-sounding piano than that song, though I don’t get the impression this is about something specific like that one was & that was the real big reason why it worked as well as it did. But I mean, I like this well enough regardless, it’s not amazing but it’s satisfactory. (DECENT)

North Korea – I think what upsets me the most about K-pop is that more often than not they have a better sense of groove than American pop nowadays & usually inoffensive enough vocals too. Like, I don’t love this or anything but I’m on board with this way more than most of what’s on the radio here nowadays. (DECENT)

okay there is enough to vote

Slovenia: sounds like nightwish
South korea: sounds like avril lavigne but worse.
Sweden: sounds like arch enemy but worse
Iceland: sounds like thrice
North macedonia: sounds like Jason mraz but not as mrazy
Lichtenstein: sounds like when someone says "play freebird" and they do.
Poland: Sounds like one of the most famous instrumental hip hop albums of all time.
Mnaco: sounds like Istanbul but not like constantinople.
USA: sounds like 2009 warped tour
Hungary: I don't have a smart Alec remark for this.
Greenland: sounds like this dude saw Never Shout Never get famous and was like "I can do that".
Latvia: Spotify decided to throw this on during a work out once. I was not happy.
CAR: sounds like too much time in a Starbucks circa 2010
Iran: Sounds not nearly as cool as it did when I was in high school
North korea: this guy is pretty shiny, right?
