wgeurts Ranks Vocaloid!

So I had some thread a while back which I sucked at consistently updating where I posted my favourite 50 songs which is arguably pretty lame. So instead I'll now be posting hyperactive Asian synthetic music for you all to enjoy/suffer. I blame Postie for introducing me to this roughly a year ago, and any new potential addiction complaints should be redirected to them as such.

Anyhow, for those of you that don't know what vocaloid is it's basically a programme which you can convert your voice into the voice of a digital singer, also known as a vocaloid. Why would you do this? Well it allows people without strong singing voices to express their creativity and feelings without having to fear direct judgement. Which is pretty darn cool if you ask me. A whole community sprung up about this phenomena and there are now vocaloid "stars" people will go to concerts to listen to whilst they're projected with holograms. You've probably heard the name Hatsune Miku before.

Anyhow, these songs can range from really dark and edgy to downright hyperactive, jolly and dangerously catchy. I'll post a few each day or so here along with my thoughts for the coming while as long as I remember lol. I'll roughly go in order of least liked to most, but all of these are songs I enjoy as a guilty pleasure.

No Logic - Megurine Luka

Spoiler: English Lyrics
Isn't this basically enough? Isn't it okay to be just good enough?
Life is more fun if you've left some room for suspense, right?
Isn't it fine to sleep if you're tired? Isn't it fine to take a break now and then?
So that we can do the things we want to, isn't that what we're all living for?

Isn't this basically enough? Isn't it fine even if you mess up?
No matter how much you worry, doesn't everything come down to timing?
You keep taking things on one by one, what exactly do you want to do?
So that you can do the things you want to, isn't that why you were born?

Since there's no way to live a perfect life
Since I don't want to live a perfect life
My clumsy self will just stay clumsy

God, can you hear this song? Even if you don't wish me to
I want to laugh, and when I'm upset I want to cry
Always living for the moment, that's what I want to do
No one can ever return to a moment once it's passed, and surely there will be regrets
With these feelings I have now, I want to walk on my own path

Isn't this basically good enough? Isn't it okay to not overdo it?
If you have to fake a smile, then you're not having any fun at all are you?
You keep taking things on one by one, what exactly do you want to do?
There's no question that everyone can get a perfect score on, right?

Since there's no way to live a perfect life
Since I don't want to live a perfect life
My imperfect self will just stay imperfect

God, can you hear this song? Even if you don't wish me to
I want to laugh, and now I want to shout out
The conclusion is always No Logic
Since someday the end of our one-time dream will come
Until we accept the end our lives, we won't even think of giving up

"Choose only the things you want to do, and throw away what you don't"
For everyone to live by that method... isn't possible is it

This is a pretty solid piece to start with. It's not all too amazing but I find it quite pleasant to listen to and the lyrics are a great example of vocaloid. Often the lyrics of the songs can be really expressive or personal as a result of what I mentioned before, which leads to a lot of angsty stuff existing but hey. People will be people.

Torinko City - Hatsune Miku

Spoiler: English Lyrics
At the point where zero and one cross
Is a communication full of misunderstanding
What is your name?
Answer within ten characters

At the point where past and future cross
Is where I lost my direction
Why are you living?
Answer within a hundred characters

The night breaks into dawn sooner than it used to
It can't even find its balance

I was left alone somewhere
In a silent world; a fabricated world
If it's just throwing away a spoiled fruit
I don't need somebody, because I can do it myself

At the point where noon and night cross
Is someone I wanted to see, but I can't
What is my name?
Tell me within ten characters

At the point where truth and lies cross
Is a heavy feeling that's like to stop my breathing
Why am I living?
Tell me within a hundred characters

In the repeated liking, hating, liking, and hating
This exhausted heart, I don't need it anymore

Time will always pass by itself
Letting the world crumble in each second
An answer concealed in this distorted scenery
I don't need it; I'm fine with lies

I was left alone somewhere
In a faded world; a dream world
Even just throwing away a spoiled fruit
I can't do it alone; I need you by my side

So most people when they think of Hatsune Miku if they know who that is will think of hyperactive possibly ear-grating music. This is definitely not always the case, as shown in this song. Vocaloid gets used to produce a whole range of musical genres. I also happen to be a sucker for simple piano riffs so there's that here.
The lyrics speak of a high-school girl complaining about how she feels alone which isn't hugely original but may be relatable for some.

Spotify suggests me a lot of Hatsune Miku, most of the Hatsune Miku's make me think I am ok with the genre but don't like Hatsune Miku specifically.
"Let us say that you are right and there are two worlds. How much, then, is this 'other world' worth to you? What do you have there that you do not have here? Money? Power? Something worth causing the prince so much pain for?'"
"Well, I..."
"What? Nothing? You would make the prince suffer over... nothing?"
