12 hours in NYC - what to do?

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Sun Jun 23, 2019 7:56 pm

Post by TDC »

In a few weeks I'll have 12 hours of layover at JFK on a Sunday. Any suggestions on activities? Probably not museums or anything else that puts me in a dark and silent room, because I arrive on a red-eye and imagine I would instantly fall to sleep if the environment permits.

I was thinking of maybe taking a boat trip.

For reference, the last time I was in NYC outside of an airport was 1991, and my only memory is being on the viewing terrace of the WTC.

Central Park. Depending on how you felt about being at the World Trade Center, it may be worthwhile to pause at Ground Zero.

See scummers, maybe. Look for "Scummers at the Big Apple" or a similar thread.

Seconded.

I saw Aladdin last year there and it was worth every dollar I spent.

I was 6, so it was just a really tall building to me.

I would have booked a better connection if I wanted to stay in the airport

Do they have midday shows? Although I guess it kind of clashes with my plan of not getting really sleepy in a dark room.

Broadway shows often have matinee performances on weekends at around 2:00 PM or 3:00 PM.

No matter how high the stakes, sooner or later you're just gonna have to go with your gut.
And maybe, just maybe, that'll take you right where you were supposed to be.

If I understand the Cloisters correctly, it contains things that were made on my continent before we settled your continent.
