Cowboys fan here. Really excited for this season. Our defense is looking strong. I have high hopes for our new OC. There was one third down play last night where everyone lined up at a 30 degree angle. Not the kind of think you would see from Scott Linehan. More pre-snap motion and more emphasis on passing. Ofc, no team is going to show their true offense in the pre-season, but this gives me hope.

Also, I'm hoping this Zeke holdout works out. Last night did not inspire much confidence in our backup running game.

I'm running a mini theme game based on the NFL. Draft a team, win roles! PM me if you want to pre-in. It should be in signups soon. Here's how it works:
Spoiler:
Game Mechanics

1. Each player will select an NFL team as explained in the next post.

2. An NFL week runs from Thursday to Monday. Each Tuesday morning, day phase will end. I will rank the teams of all living players in the following order: teams who won that week, ordered by number of points scored highest to lowest; followed by teams who tied that week, ordered by number of points scored highest to lowest; followed by teams who lost that week, ordered by number of points scored highest to lowest.

3. The players who are first, second, and last on this list get a chance at a power role. In the event of a tie, all tied players get a chance. Each must submit three roles (in order of preference) from the list below to me via PM by Tuesday at 6:30 PM.

4. The first place team gets first selection, followed by second place and last place.

5. The player will win the highest preferred role on their list which has not been previously awarded. If all three choices were previously awarded, the player gets no role. THe public list below will not note which roles have been taken.

6. Active 1X abilities: The player may choose to use the ability that night, or save it for a future night.

7. Passive 1X abilities: These are always on until used, e.g. a player with BP will deflect the first bullet targeted at them. They don't need to choose to enable the BP on a particular night.

8. A player has the attributes of a role on a night if he has the ability to use it that night. Example: Player A (who is town) wins Cop N1 but doesn't use it until N2. If Player A is investigated by a Gunsmith on N1 or N2, the result will be Gun. If player A is investigated by the Gunsmith on N3 or later, the result is No Gun. This of course assumes that player A wins no other abilities that include a gun.

9. Anyone can win any role regardless of their alignment. For example, a townie can win encryptor or a scum can win cop.

ROLES

1X Active
Cop
Gunsmith
Doctor
Roleblocker
Babysitter
Rolecop (gets all current roles)
Framer
Friendly Neighbor
Gladiator - activate during day
Jailkeeper
Lawyer
Ninja
Strongman
Tracker
Watcher
Rolestopper
Janitor
Coroner
Day vig! - can't be used in lylo
Double voter - one day, can't be used in mylo/lylo
Lie Detector

1X Passive
Bulletproof
Ascetic
Commuter
Godfather
Universal Backup
Paranoid Gun Owner

Other
Encryptor - active until player dies
Innocent Child (you choose when to reveal)

Setup
The game is 10:3. Mafia may talk during pregame and nights only unless a power role gives them day talk.

thanks for getting this up D3. I had totally forgotten about it. Also, Saints-Jags SB is gonna be tight.

This is literally the worst take I've heard this year.

In fairness, the Jags actually have a QB now. Lee is back now so while they don't have a ton of depth Lee/Cole seems like a p good WR tandem as long as Lee stays healthy and isn't rusty. They are like a year removed from a top 5 defense and rushing attack. Is it so hard to see them playing more like 2017 than 2018? But I admit that you are prob right that all of KC, Pittsburg, Houston, NE are better than the Jags. I could see them making some noise and improving on that 5-11 record.

2nd in pass protection last year, 6th in 2013, 7th in 2014

They were average in 2012 and 2015. They were dog shit in 2016 and 2017(he didn't play in 2017).

He got hurt in 2015 behind a league average line. Then reinjured himself snowboarding in the offseason before the 2016 season but played anyway(this is the season he was referring to in his press conference about not being able to practice 100% and stuff).

He did take a lot of sacks in his first 5 years, even behind a line that wasn't awful according to footballoutsiders. 115 in the first 4 years and 41 in 2016.

I think a bigger contributing factor was playing against jj watt twice a year when he was the greatest defensive end of all time for like 4 years running.

Fun Stat: Between the years 2012-2015. Only 4 times did a non-Houston AFC South QB play all 16 games. 3 were Andrew Luck, 1 was Bortles. Of the 10 starting quarterbacks for those 3 teams during those 4 years, 6 of them are retired(2 more very possibly on the way).

to be fair, outside of Indy, the AFC South was a dumpster fire of QB 'talent'

Jacksonville: Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne
Tennessee: Jake Locker, Matt Hasselbeck, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Zach Mettenberger, Charlie Whitehurst, Marcus Mariota

i don't know how much injuries contributed to them not starting a whole season
