Eastermeet 2020 - Current status: postponed

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Sat Jan 25, 2020 8:32 am

When: Possible some time in the summer
Where: A set of cottages in the Midlands (PM me if you want)
What: Mafia, board games, scummers! Given the success of last year's Werewolf Legacy, this year there'll be a homebrewed sequel.
Cost: Expected to be between £100 - £150 per person for the week

Newcomers are always welcome. Sorry that this topic is a little later than usual in coming but if you've considering coming before or you've come before and would like to come before, really, this is the year. I guarantee Werewolf Legacy 2 will be an experience.

What sorta date do you want people to confirm by?

I want to come but also my friends have designated similar dates that they're free for them to do a holiday thing, and depending on if they do/if I'm able to join them kinda decides whether I do this or not but I also don't want to commit to not coming to this only for it to turn out later than my friends weren't able to do something and I end up doing neither

V long winded sorry but you get the gist

No worries.

As long as there's space, I'm happy for you to decide what you're doing however late you want. The max occupancy is 18, which we did reach last year, and if that does look like it might be an issue, at that point I would chase up any maybes but I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't come up.

You'd be very welcome!

And with that I do have to say that between confirmeds and maybes we have reached max occupancy. That's new! If you're reading this and you're interested in coming, feel free to indicate as such or PM me as there might still end up being space, but obviously I can't guarantee anything at this point.

Hi,

Would anyone be interested in an
outside
game of
Ten Candles
?

If you have not played it before, please
don't
look it up!

About the game:

It is a
co-op
*
suspense/mystery/scary
RPG
with an incredibly
simple system
- you roll the dice you are given and hope for a certain number - no stats or anything, only character attributes which players decide e.g. "courageous" to be role-played into the story. [*You can choose to be less than cooperative if it applies!]

The story is
player driven
, and is best with
3-6 players, plus a DM
.

It may be thriller, horror, sci-fi, but it's always suspenseful, mysterious and spooky! It is suitable to play in character, or to talk about your character. No prior setup necessary. On-the-day setup includes character creation, introductions and scene-setting and should take less than one hour total.

The game involves no physical or dexterous activity, only speaking, some reading/writing in setup, and dice-rolling. I will sit on the floor outside, but we can use chairs.

I will bring necessary materials, and picnic blankets.

The game takes 4.5h maximum, 3.5h of which must be played outside in the dark. Start time: sunset

I've added it to the spreadsheet, please mark interest and PM me/reply any questions! Thanks :]

P.S. super excited to be attending again ^^ sorry to see some people I met last year won't be attending

Hi,

since we have some veterans of the game, I would offer to host a live
Song Game
.

For those who don't know what that is:
One person (me) mods, any* number of people play.
Every player sends a number of songs to the mod, who randomizes them after adding in their own songs.
Then we listen to them together and the players try to guess who submitted which song.
One point for correct guesses, one point if one of your songs slips through, i.e. nobody guesses you for it.
Length of the game depends on the number of players, an upper limit would be 2-2.5 hours.

For this one i would collect song lists and download songs before the meet so I need everyone who wants to play to
additionally send me a list of 5 songs, preferably as youtube links, by pm (or discord/skype/sitechat).
Since I am in Germany I also need those to be available in Germany, you can check that here:
https://polsy.org.uk/stuff/ytrestrict.cgi

(Note: when playing this online we also have the music videos. I do not know what kind of connections the TVs there have,
so it's possible we can do that there too, but i can't guarantee it)

While trying to deceive the others obviously plays a part in the game, the focus of most of us tends to be seeing it as
an opportunity to show off songs we like, and just listen to music together. Probably try not to take it too seriously.

*as i said, the more players, the longer it takes. In order to not make it tedious, i will reduce the songs per player if
a lot of people are interested in playing.

There is definitely a HDMI connection, I brought my Chromecast last year so we could stream karaoke. I can bring one if it's needed?

You may have picked up already but there's no wifi - I'm guessing that's why you're planning to download the videos.

If it's no trouble that would be great, then i don't need to worry about getting hold of a cable or anything.

I was informed of that, yes :]

Also, I realize that since we have a few new faces, it makes sense to mention a few practical details:
- Check-in is at 3pm on Friday; check-out is at 10am (this can be impractical for some, like the international travellers; Fenchurch and I are happy to go on a small outing with them but there's only so much space in our car).
- In terms of the place itself, bring your own towels. There is a washing machine. (And as previously mentioned, no wifi.)

Update: Given how it looks right now i think 4 per person will be a good number, so from people that have already sent me something please tell me which of your songs to drop.
The rest just send me 4 songs.

Bella and I would love to do a big event while we're there, either the murder mystery or Werewolf Legacy. We are flexible about anything else.

We may or may not be bringing the baby at this point. If so, could we potentially have the same 2-person room we had last year (for the sake of everyone's sleep)? But if he's not coming then we're not fussed about rooms - Bella said you might need someone to sleep on a sofa, and we'd both be fine to do that if the baby isn't coming.

Looking forward to seeing you all again and meeting new faces :)

Talking of - if having an 8 month old at the meet for two nights is off-putting to people, do let us know - we don't wanna ruin anyone's holiday!

Yep for sure - we would expect you guys to have that room regardless :)

That is, provided nothing has changed in which rooms are wheelchair accessible, last year they switched things around. But you'll definitely get one of the twin rooms.
Klick wrote:Bella and I would love to do a big event while we're there, either the murder mystery or Werewolf Legacy
Do you have a preference between the two? Werewolf Legacy will be similar format to last time, multiple games over multiple days, so we wouldn't be able to do the whole thing whilst you're here, but could make a start; or obviously the murder mystery would fit.
