i always thought it was related to where your browser was.
signing in flicked the on switch, leaving flicked it off, disconnecting cut the power to the switch, and closed the browser removed the swtich, so to speak

hmm when I am on a lot it seems that there aren't many others.

When I first came I had my profile as hidden.Did this hurt the chances of most users on?

And also what if I am simply logged in all of the time. Because before I would wake early in the morning and logg in and check around the threads in the games I was in etc. But I didn't always log off or x the site.
So would this keep me on the online user list or no? I dont do it on purpose its just that whenever I do have time to come in I want my pages to already be open.

Is there a logg in expire time?

No, it only hurt your chances of being included on the list.

5 minutes without activity will remove you from the list. (Actually, 5 minutes is just the default, I don't remember what I really have the session timeout to be.)
