Song Contest - BOTB 8 (Results posted!)

I am going to try and update some of the stats pages.

For the record in terms of no. of entries per contest, its usually capped at 26, however Song Contest 100 lifted that restriction and they had 41 entries in. In terms of BOTB, this one has the most with 32, but BOTB 5 had 31.

However, if those that entered and are accepted do not vote, they will get a 20 point penalty and be banned from entering in the next contest, so please consider that before entering.

Forgot to change this before posting the OP -- the above wording is incorrect. I'm gonna use the penalty system we've been using, and there are no bans.

Im going to presume I put my votes in correctly, not sure why I wouldn't have but meh.

Also I have been working out stats all afternoon. If there is a particular stat anyone is interested in, Ill have it/try to work it out.

i probably have the most tbh because i switched accounts a while back (used to be Parama, see my sig) and have done something like a dozen more contests since then

parama has 121 contests (114 + 7 BOTBs)
cyril has 11 contests

so that's 132 in all

PEG has 131 contests (134 + 7 BOTBs)

so actually it's very close and i guess i'm not allowed to skip any more future contests if i want to retain my championship number

Ah right, well that explains a couple of things, but yeah I didn't include BOTB's initially because I wanted to try and use JD's stat tracker that was overly convoluted. I also struggle to go with the name changes, I know Mathias had one at some point, as did BA.

Really sorry guys! It doesn't look like my votes would have made much of a difference tho! What a landslide!

Just gonna post musings instead of what I normally do:

-Congrats Nati! Good song, loved the instrumental bits, and I'm happy with it winning even if it wasn't my 12
-Also pretty happy with my own song's showing. I consider the song that I first entered from Mae (Fisherman Song) to be their best, so I wish I could've entered that in BotB instead. But anybody who liked what they heard, I would recommend the whole (M)orning EP. There are scattered good/great songs on (A)fternoon (The Cure, Falling Into You) and (E)vening (Bloom, I Just Needed You to Know, My Favorite Dream) as well, though I think overall they're just not as good as (M)orning. The Everglow is also a really good album, though it's one of those albums where it's good because the songs work together and not necessarily because of individual great songs. The latest album (Multisensory Aesthetic Experience) is pretty good too, they get more experimental and electronicky.
-BAFFLED at how low Djibouti, Nicaragua and Hungary scored.
-King Crimson also probably shoulda scored higher.
-There was a ton of competition, though, so I think that adds to the possibility that a lot of entries were, like, people's 11th pick and just missed out on points.
-I hear what you're saying about safe picks, Nati, but I also get the sense that a lot of the songs that were entered are the kinds of songs that could grow on you after multiple listens.
