That's a really good take. I feel like the Kestrel in particular benefits from an early green sector if you don't get a couple of extra crew members in the starting one, tho :<In post 19, callforjudgement wrote:

sinking funds into hacking now when we'll almost certainly see it at least once later feels like its gonna cripple us too much short term
saving scraps is all well and good but we've got the super super handy shield 2. unless we get a decent drop/event I'm not sure what we'd be saving for.-

yeah absolutely but as long as you look for cloak+hacking as a priority we're almost certain to get it later when there's more value add imo -- hacking really shines when you up against ships with like 3-4 shields and 1000 weapons
in the meantime we can have some groovy crew members C:-

I'm slightly more inclined towards uncharted for basically this reason.... though I'm a bit cowardly when it comes to the slug generally ~_~
standard rules don't really apply in slug nebulae (best to assume you have to kill everyone because their surrender offers suck; half the random events have nasty bad rewards which seem to happen really often :c)
uncharted nebula also positions us in the center so we can choose whether to go friendly or hostile. we'll probably be best off going friendly, but still. it's a little bonus point imo...
