Hello friends, I would like to run another game of 7 Wonders! Is anyone interested? We need at least 3 and up to 7 players. (See here for original thread.)

You are the leader of one of the 7 great cities of the Ancient World. Gather resources, develop commercial routes, and affirm your military supremacy. Build your city and erect an architectural wonder which will transcend future times.
7 Wonders lasts three ages. In each age, players receive seven cards from a particular deck, choose one of those cards, then pass the remainder to an adjacent player. Players reveal their cards simultaneously, paying resources if needed or collecting resources or interacting with other players in various ways. Each player then chooses another card from the deck they were passed, and the process repeats until players have six cards in play from that age. After three ages, the game ends.
In essence, 7 Wonders is a card development game. Some cards have immediate effects, while others provide bonuses or upgrades later in the game. Some cards provide discounts on future purchases. Some provide military strength to overpower your neighbors and others give nothing but victory points. Each card is played immediately after being drafted, so you'll know which cards your neighbor is receiving and how his choices might affect what you've already built up. Cards are passed left-right-left over the three ages, so you need to keep an eye on the neighbors in both directions.
You definitely don't need to have a lot of experience to play, there can be as little or as much strategy as you want, and if you're new to the game I'm happy to help point out which cards you can and can't buy.
Thread rules
Please do not communicate privately with other players. Communication in this thread is allowed (including trade/treaty negotiations and friendly trash talking).
If you have any questions about gameplay, you are welcome to ask me and I will explain to the best of my ability.
Each card selection round will last 48 hours. If you do not select a card within that time, I will randomly select one of your cards and discard it for 3 coins.
*New this time* You will receive your board and be able to choose which side of the board to play.
The arrangement of players is based on the player list. Your neighbor to the left (west) is the person above you in the list, and your neighbor to the right (east) is the person below you. CreativeMod1's western/left neighbor is Isis, and Isis's eastern/right neighbor is CreativeMod1.
Note that in Age I, hands get passed to the left (up the playerlist); in Age II, hands get passed to the right (down the playerlist); and back to the left/up in Age III. Leader cards are passed to the right (down the playerlist)
Also, I will be assuming that if you are building a card and you have the ability to construction chain it, you always use the construction chain, unless you specify otherwise (this is relevant for a specific Leader card that benefits from players using construction chains). That is, if you can independently build the card from your existing resources for free, you can announce that you would like to do that instead, but unless you specify this, I will assume you are using the construction chain.
Quick overview of how Leaders affects the game: Before each Age, there will be a Recruitment phase where you can play one of your Leader cards in much the same way you would a regular card - you can either pay the cost described on the card to build the Leader; use the card (and required Wonder resources) to build a Wonder stage; or discard a Leader for 3 Coins. After the pre-Age III Recruitment phase, the remaining Leader in your hand is automatically discarded (and you do not receive anything).
Also please let me know your preference for playing with/without expansions (Leaders, Cities, Babel, Wonders).

Please keep in mind: The arrangement of players is based on the player list. Posting a quick clarification in case anyone needs (also added to OP):
Note that in Age I, hands get passed to the left (up the playerlist) once you play a card; in Age II, hands get passed to the right (down the playerlist); and hands get passed back to the left in Age III.

Please respond directly to the PM I sent you with your decision. If you need to buy a resource from a neighbor in order to build a card, please specify which neighbor you are buying from.

Hey Knightmare, I’m really glad you’re enjoying this game!
This great site lets you play 7 Wonders online for free. You need a premium membership to host games but free members can join all games (since you can’t create new premium games, the downside is we couldn’t get a game with just MS players unless one of us has premium). So if you’re looking for some real-time 7 wonders action you can play on this site in real time, or you can play turn-based (typically ~1 turn per day). If you intend to sign up, this is my referral link - if I get enough people to use it, I get membership for a month and then I can actually host this for yall in real time

Edit: I incorrectly allowed Ircher to build the Forum even though at that time, his neighbors did not have 2 Clay for him to buy in order to build said Forum. I am asking him to change his decision and will revise CreativeMod1's hand once Ircher has chosen a new card for Hand I.

Which puts us at 7. If we get an additional person interested we can do teams, otherwise we’ll play as normal.
Also we will be playing with Cities, Leaders, and Wonders expansions. (Luckily these are all the ones I have played before and they’re the easiest to adapt to forum. Babel would be slightly more difficult and Armada would be a major pain in the ass to create)
Please let me know if anyone doesn’t agree with any of this. I need some time to create the Cities and Leaders cards so I’ll aim to start the game this weekend.

I'm preparing to send out the boards and Leader hands for drafting. Please note the following:
You will receive your board and be able to choose which side of the board to play.
The arrangement of players is based on the player list. Your neighbor to the left (west) is the person above you in the list, and your neighbor to the right (east) is the person below you. CreativeMod1's western/left neighbor is Isis, and Isis's eastern/right neighbor is CreativeMod1.
Note that in Age I, hands get passed to the left (up the playerlist); in Age II, hands get passed to the right (down the playerlist); and back to the left/up in Age III. Leader cards are passed to the right (down the playerlist)

Each player will receive a city board with two sides and can select which side of the board they would like to play on. You will also receive a hand of 4 Leader cards and must select one to keep; the remaining cards will be passed to the player on your right (below you in the playerlist). You will continue selecting one Leader from the hand that is passed to you to keep and passing the remaining cards to your right twice more, until you have a hand of 4 Leader cards. (The last hand of one card that is passed to you automatically becomes part of your Leader hand.) The Leader hands are private and you can request for me to send your hand to you via PM at any time.
Quick overview of how Leaders affects the game: Before each Age, there will be a Recruitment phase where you can play one of your Leader cards in much the same way you would a regular card - you can either pay the cost described on the card to build the Leader; use the card (and required Wonder resources) to build a Wonder stage; or discard a Leader for 3 Coins. After the pre-Age III Recruitment phase, the remaining Leader in your hand is automatically discarded (and you do not receive anything).

Quick note: As a reminder, you can let me know if you'd like to turn on "help mode" and for every hand you get I'll describe which ones you can and can't buy and why.
Also, I will be assuming that if you are building a card and you have the ability to construction chain it, you always use the construction chain, unless you specify otherwise (this is relevant for a specific Leader card that benefits from players using construction chains). That is, if you can independently build the card from your existing resources for free, you can announce that you would like to do that instead, but unless you specify this is the case, I will assume you are using the construction chain.

They would only potentially replace other Guilds. The number of Guilds in the game is the same whether we use expansions or not (always # of players + 2), and if we were to play without expansions, these are randomly selected from the 10 Guilds of the original game. The 4 new Guild cards are just added to the possible pool from which this particular game’s Guilds are selected, so we will still have 9 Guilds in the game, the only difference is that the pool that these 9 can be drawn from now includes the 4 Guilds from the Leaders expansion.
TLDR: this only affects Guilds which are never the same for every game anyway.

This is only the drafting phase, so you do not pay any coins now for selecting Leaders to draft. You will pay coins during the specific Recruitment phase at the beginning of each Age, according to the card cost, if you choose to recruit a Leader during that phase.

I will post the boards once everyone has selected them, but am kind of doing a “go at your own pace” Leader drafting instead of waiting for everyone to submit their choices before sending out the next hand. If you want to see your neighbors’ boards before you draft Leaders, you can just wait to draft from your hand until after I’ve posted the boards.
This is only the drafting phase, so you do not pay any coins now for selecting Leaders to draft. You will pay coins during the specific Recruitment phase at the beginning of each Age, according to the card cost, if you choose to recruit a Leader during that phase.
Just to reiterate as it seems I did not explain this well: you are not actually buying anything right now. We are currently in drafting phase - At this point you are only selecting cards that will go in your hand for when we get to the Recruitment phases. The Recruitment phase before each Age is when you will be able to play the Leader cards, use them for Wonder stages, or discard them for 3 coins. At the end of this drafting phase, you will end up with a hand of 4 Leaders that you can choose from during the Recruitment phases. Since there are only 3 Ages, you will only have the opportunity to play/use 3 of them, and the last one will be automatically discarded.
Please let me know if anyone has further questions - hopefully it will be clearer when we get to the Recruitment phase.

All players have finished drafting their Leader hands! The game begins!
It is now the Recruitment phase of Age I.
From your Leaders hand, select one Leader and take one of the following actions:
1) Recruit the Leader to your city in order to gain the effects listed on the Leader card, by paying the number of coins listed in the cost.
2) Discard the Leader to gain 3 Coins.
3) Use the Leader to build a Wonder stage, paying the required resources for the Wonder stage.
Please respond directly to the PM I sent. Players have (expired on 2020-06-04 12:01:28) to select a Leader to play.

It’s basically once per card that you play so you can use it up to 6 times per age! You also don’t have to make the same resource every time, so on the first card you play in Age II you can use it to make clay (as long as your city doesn’t already have clay) and then on the second card you play in Age II you could change it to make paper (as long as your city doesn’t already have paper). The restrictions are basically just “make any resource” and “as long as it’s not already present in your city via raw material cards/manufactured goods cards/initial resources”

that's okay, you don't really need to! Although there's a lot of available depth to learn in terms of strategy, the only gameplay you actually need to know is "pick a card out of the ones I tell you you have enough money/resources to buy." I've also had friends who won the game their first time playing, and they went up against pretty experienced players.

After quadruple checking all the Leader cards and updating some of the language to hopefully make them easier to understand, all new Leader hands have been sent. I will be continuing with the "go at your own pace" passing of cards, since the results of drafting are not public. There's no set deadline but if you haven't responded within 36 hours of my last PM I might poke you.
edit: Since I'm doing "go at your own pace," keep in mind that you won't be able to change your mind for this drafting phase once you've selected a card and I've read your PM, as I've likely already passed your hand to the next person.

The Leader draft is complete! We are moving into Age I Recruitment phase. Please indicate which Leader you would like to play, and whether you are recruiting them, discarding them for 3 coins, or using them to build a Wonder stage. If it's not clear from your language (eg if you just say "Play Lilith" or "I choose Lilith"), I will assume you mean you want to recruit your Leader. If you have already indicated which Leader you are playing, no need to do anything else right now.
