Cool beans. ani, I'm building a fleet that I'm going to take either North or South. If we both leave each other be, neither of us should have to worry about fighting a war on two fronts for a good chunk of time.

... I'll admit that this feels out of left field from you (given that I have all the close land), but this makes sense.

Basically, you have these options:

1) Be Boring and take North Africa
2) Force Me to take Portugal
3) Start a (rather unadvised) war against Italy.

And I won't be attacking italy.

Not necessarily, no - But if you get withing Portugal attack range I'm going to have to take it.

Well, I guess my trust was misplaced, then. Looks like I'm being tagteamed by Tunis and Spain. I can defend my on SC for now, since that's all I really need, but does STD, D3f, or Mist think they can send some support my way next year? After all, it's their alliance ani is ditching too. This plea also extends to GB, since I'm all that stands between them and the Mediterranean powerhouse in the water.

I'm not going to take you out by any means. I've stopped them attacking you entirely!

This. Plus I'm moving in the other direction - so attacking Portugal in the spring will be met with heavy resistance elsewhere.

Also, let me make this straight - once this Russia vs. Germany war is over, if you keep acting like head honcho of half the countries already, you (and potentially all of Italy) will be next.

Harsh but true - you're painting a huge target on yourself (and likewise the rest of the Mediterranean group) by trying to force things.

I'm just... you're literally never going to keep everyone happy. That is not how Diplomacy works. Especially not this version where the only way to make gains is at the expense of another player.

Are you still a part of the MedAgree?

I'm well aware - I've played Diplomacy before - I don't see the need to start a war quite yet, however. Plus I'm not sold on being not totally blitzkriegd from Spain if I start something vs. Northern Alliance

And yes I am, but after the shenanigans of last phase, I doubt I'm very high up the totem pole xD

This is also worth noting - but if Northern Alliance wants Cybele's space for themselves instead (which may prove handy vs. potentially upcoming NA vs. Scandanavia if this continues), I am fine with a country trade instead of having to walk all the way up.

I can never ask this of another player. I am considering doing it this turn for myself but it is too much of a risk to ask another player to give up their starting territory.

I totally understand! I'm not going to force the issue - that said, if a player values Cybele's space over their own at the moment, I'm willing to give them the opportunity to trade up, granted that I can get to the country in a reasonable time frame.

@ Western MedAgree:
I am claiming Cybele's spot as mine. If you take Spain while I am out, the rest of the MedAgree will undoutedly target you (and potentially other would as well) for being untrustworthy. Therefore, I would recommend not taking Spain or interfering with me.

@Northern Alliance:
I expect I'll need some support in entering Cybele's location, as I expect the default no-submission is to hold - given how I'm not attacking you, could I get a promise for support from someone who would be nearby?

Loving that you are willing to help but you do have allies with the medagree. Just curious as to how or relationship would play out.

I wouldn't expect it to be a problem in the immediate future - the big issue right now is NA vs. Scandanavia, and as far as I'm aware, the part of the MedAgree people have issues with is the Eastern MedAgree moreso than Western.

OGML has a point - I think I'm going to be forced int a Hold this turn, Mist. You'll probably have better luck a bit farther North?

Snakes can't dislodge you by himself, even if you are supporting, he can only cut the support.

Or, how about we leave good enough alone for now - we can go on the warpath soon, but it'd be much more beneficial to wait at
least
one more turn. All I ask is that Mist attacks Paris to disrupt anything d3f3n3r plans on doing so I cannot be dislodged.

I know you both want centers, trust me - but our chances of doing anythingsuccessfully would increase if we stall for the fall.

@Mist:
Attack d3f3nd3r at all costs. If he leaves his base to cut off support, you'll take his center anyways and his move is rendered invalid. If not, I'll guarantee you get it in the next fall.

@Loki:
I need you to force Snakes back - start moving near his center, and consider taking it.

Clearly I made a mistake not having a problem with you taking Brest and trusting you.

Dude, I don't care - OGML brought it up then DN went all in. I'm forced to save myself.

Seriously - ISO me. I've been the least bloodthirsty - the least aggressive - the most agreeable - the easiest to get along with - of virtually anyone in the MedAgree + DN. ISO everyone else in the conflict, and you'll see where I've been forced into here.

ATTN: SNAKES.

I believe in fair war - so this is (what will probably become) your final warning if you do not listen to this. As has been stated by Lokiben, he is going North with intent to screw up the NA - the easiest way to do that is to take your supply center, and as no one else in the UK can stop him without losing their own, it falls to you if you want to continue or not. You are NOT the intended victim right now, and I'd like to keep casualties to a minimum right now.

Just give up Ani and go find somewhere else to invade.

I'll gladly let you guys know now that if you hadn't been asshats forcing me to lodge out I was actually considering defecting in the fall and taking Mist's center - so this is your loss.

Yes, it worked for me to keep Mist busy, as I said before, so I could take her supply center.

I was forced into a spot where if I say yes, I potentually lose, and if I say no, I will lose. So I had to gamble it.

If you iso me at all, you can find the gilarious amounts of times I asked to hold back from taking the country from D3f3nd3r when we could have easily taken it. If that didn't signal bullshit I have no idea.

I'd consider making amends of I got Brest back...

Idk what this means but pls dont put me in a slot thats already screwed

I'm reading this as "don't put me in Serbia" - Holland is actually a pretty good spot for a replacee right now, given that there's an open country next to it.

Vote: Aronis does not get a vote.

@Mist:
Will you support me back into Brest with Paris, and then have the new unit from Marseilles move to Gascony if possible? I have no idea what you intend on building, but it'd make the capture of Brest so much faster so you could do things with your Fall turn.

I intended to build a fleet this round just so I can have one of each. Would that work?

Sadly, no, that is not how fleets work - it doesn't matter that much, I'm just going to be forced to sit in Gascony for the spring more than likely.

@MattP:
Belgium is right next to Holland and it's unoccupied at the moment. It's worth attempting to grab it in the Fall for an extra supply center. I'll get to your post in a second.

So I'm holding for this turn.

What do we want Portugal to do? I want to make sure it is nearby for a support in the fall, so that leaves have it hold or go to where Snakes was.

Right now Def's unit would be destroyed because there's nowhere for it to go. There's actually no way it could get to Spain. Armies can't retreat to where they were attacked from.

Well there's a rule I should have known that never crossed my mind. Thanks!

Fleets can go into Gascony because it borders an ocean. So do you want my fleet to move to Gascony and my Army to support you into Brest?

In post 1945, Shadoweh wrote:Mist, you can only move to a place that borders your coast, so you can't go to Gascony from Marseilles.

Yup, so come on down to the gulf of Lyon, the water's warm and welcoming

That's not where I want to go!

Ani, would you be opposed to me jumping into Spain to get to Gascony? How would we maneuver this? We could take Brest in the Fall?

If you have Paris support me into Brest, that's all I need now. I actually don't need that fleet anymore.

As far as I understand:

1) If STD stays where he is, d3f3nd3r will have his army removed from the board (and subsequently lose the game almost no matter what).
2) If STD moves back, he fails to make any progress at all.
3) If STD moves away from his center, AcRv is likely to take Belgium if he thinks DN wil ltake his starting spot.

1) Hold
2) Move to Irish Sea
3) Move to English Channel

Because pagetop and EBWOP: I like Hold more, because MAO is super important to keep right now. Next year we can get another fleet in there, but I'd rather hold the current position than potentially lose a center in the mainland.

Also, Matt - you're going to decide. Do you want to wait until Next year for the extra unit, or do you risk AcRv taking your spot while you grab Belgium? Don't let us know./

Also, Matt - you're going to decide. Do you want to wait until Next year for the extra unit, or do you risk AcRv taking your spot while you grab Belgium? Don't let us know./

I think it might be worth seeing if you can grab Mists' support. If you can get her help from Paris (either by her and I pushing STD back in or, even if someone else manages to take it and she moves to BUR), you could take it in the Fall of next ear without contest.

TBH, I don't think the MedAgree really exists anymore - Aronis, Nyalite, and Shadoweh have all turned while Eagle, Zulfy, and pablito are gone, while Dan is just about gone.

I kind of want to call Mist, Lokiben and I "Western Alliance" but what can ya do.

Personally, I would imagine that the UK would have a much easier time dealing with Scandanavia then Germany as a whole - so wouldn't it make more sense to move AcRv into the Norwegian Sea and you into North Sea (or something very similar)? That'd allow you two to deal with Scandanavia much easier, and would allow Portugal into the English Channel - which is just about as good as having you there, because not only can i not do anything without the support of Mist + Nyalite and crew, but you'd know what I was planning on doing with it.

If you really wanted to guarantee the Capture of Norway, the Barents Sea is open because there's no fleet possible there, that'd allow both of your units and AcRv's in, nearly guaranteeing 3v2.

There's so much bullshit in this statement because we
all
knew Matt was going - if you were worried about AcRv taking Belgium from Matt (which is in and of itself bullshit because the worst he can do is force a bounce as no one but MattP can help him in), you should support him in. It would've made more sense to attack Holland if you were worried about AcRv to steal a country from Matt.

I'll admit I missed that (and yes, I did ISO it to check). But on top of that, you had no reason to interfere in the first place - AcRv moving into Holland or Belgium when no one wanted that to happen creates another d3f3nd3r situation where the situation ends up what it should have been (MattP getting both), just a year later, and it would have also made AcRv look bad to all of us.

Honestly, I just don't know what to do with it and putting MAO on permanent hold is a pretty shitty thing for me to do with Portugal.

Attacking Germany with your unit in Silesia will cost you nothing - it can't do anything else anyways.

All the meanwhile:

@Ani/Mist - I'm probably going to need your help after all so maybe moving into the English channel is needed.

Sure, give me a bit to get there.

@ShadowNya: Do you still need the convoy? If so, I'd like to do it this fall, as Lokiben's not returned yet otherwise.

Wasn't N still your ally when you invited random into N's country instead of helping him?

I know I'm forgetting several as well.

How about this.

I take Munich, and after that we start working on dividing up OGML + Matt's territories to Mist and I. That should put her back.

I'll tell you this much. I've made a decision on what I want to do about OGML, and simply put, I can't risk it. He's been against everything I've tried to do since Day 1 (to the point of trying to attack Mist and I solo), and now that he's in a position to be removed, I can't risk it. If DN will support me into OGML's territory in the spring, then we can get Mist into Munich by the fall for sure.

Honestly, my plan is to stay put right now, and here's why.

1) Even if I wanted to do something against you or Shadoweh, you've got me quite literally boxed in.
2) I don't think you need me help. If something happens I can pop a fleet into the English Channel or what have you.

Wait, you're REALLY this upset that instead of giving Mist Marseilles back, I gave her a position that was arguably better? Because it wasn't as easy for you to get rid of her?

Mist, you have to realize that if they kill me they;re going to go after you next. I've stated this half a dozen times. If you want Marseilles back, I'll give it to you if you help me fight off Nyalite and Shadoweh.

You hadn't submitted for several turns in a row! I figured you had given up or forgotten or something.

Mist - what are your plans if Jal and Nyalite decide to hold onto Marseilles? How are you going to get it from them?

What's your plan when, after all of this is said and done, you have 3 locations on the entire map, and Nyalite has 10?

@Jal - why is Marseilles so important? We agreed to give her Munich, and I even cleared the way for Mist. If I wanted to eliminate Mist from the game, I had her surrounded. I could've done that and been immune to this attack.

By the way - if they really wanted to win with you, they would have given you the location I just gave up. There is no threat to Munich as it currently stands if Nyalite really is playing with you.

I submitted a draw - I just don't see a point to submit anythig else because everyone's letting Shadow and Nyalite win.

I already voted for a draw last round - do I need to submit that again?

Yeah I should have finished off Mist. Oh well! I knew I was going to get Best Negotiator, heh.
