It's fun just how different two scores can be.

That said, since lineclear points are multiplied by level, what makes the big difference is keeping your cool and clearing Tetrises even after things speed up.
(If you're having trouble keeping your stack clean by the time you get to it, you can always start at that higher level to immediately have access to the big multipliers)

(And probably one more tip that's perhaps the most important - dropping the blocks quickly isn't worth any extra points, so don't drop them faster than you can comfortably plan and think)

To be fair the scoring in this increases quadratically because of the level multiplier, but that is still pretty super impressive keeping control of the board at that speed for so long.

Yeah Level 10 is the fastest it gets, if I bothered practicing at that speed it wouldn't be toooo bad.

For this game, take the square root of everyone's scores. The scoring progression is quadratic, so that'll equalise it.

You'd want to change that for the other games based on their own scoring systems probably. And dividing by high scorer would be a good idea, yeah. Alternatively, just awarding points for places is fine too, but don't make it go in intervals of 10~

F1 uses 25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1
MK8 uses 15-12-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1

If you want place-based points, some variation on that system (I'd say leave room to award points down to top 20?) would be the best idea.

If you're worried about getting more players than the scoring system would support, it's possible to invert the scale too.
One of my personal preferences is the relatively simple "score one point for every person who beats you, lowest score wins"

great
, since if you get one of the top five places for the day it immediately refreshes, so you don't get a chance to screenshot your high score on the game itself. That said, if we use our username for the high score table it should be fine. (if you don't use your username the first time it saves the name as a cookie, so go clear it)

It definitely does, just sit on Level 1 for a while - it starts taking over two seconds at first, but that doesn't last long. It definitely goes up faster though if you rush the levels... really hard to figure it out.

I guess unless you wanted to go to a harder song (you're looking at around the 20s before you get out of my AAA range), you could score based on the number of amazings?
(I'd recommend the harder song route for people who do AAA this)

I'm down for suggestions, you seem to know a lot about this site so what would be a good song to use? I apologize, I found this site and thought it was pretty cool.
I'd probably suggest using the harder song as a tiebreak (so it only matters for two who get the same score on the easier song), then go look in the dance genre for something around the 25ish mark? You could go easier but my "skill level" is 23 so it's up to you whether you'd be fine with something I'd still have a good shot of AAAing.

There's a couple of settings you can use to focus certain sections:
On the main options, there's a "rate" setting which controls the speed of the song. Obviously anything other than 1x doesn't count as ranked, but slowing it down to work on the tricky timing probably isn't a bad idea. There's also an isolation setting in the other options which lets you pull out a segment of the song to work on in isolation.

If you want to bump up the arrow speed, that's "scroll speed" at the top of main options and totally fine.
