When Buddy the Elf tests the jack-in-the-box, he finds it is malfunctional and puts it in the "to be thrown away" pile.

Said jack-in-the-box gets angry and hunts down Buddy the Elf, and tells him that he is not in fact an Elf. This then inspires him on a journey to find his true parents, but he dies when his iceraft thingy melts.
