PlayerTotal
1) Aronis230
2) theelkspeaks205

SETUP RULES

  • This game will be played between 2 players.
  • Aronis is player 1 and theelkspeaks is player 2 for all dice rolls.
  • The game is based on the television show of the same name (wiki is here). There will be significant alterations for forum play, however.
  • After the game is over, the player with the most points will move on to the semifinal round.
  • There will be no formal deadlines for making plays, but please be respectful of your opponent. You may be replaced at my discretion if absences become overly excessive.

GAME RULES

Object

  • Two players answer general knowledge questions and solve picture puzzles in an attempt to earn more points.

How to Play

  • The game will start with a 50 point Speed Picture round. Both players will be shown a blank space broken up into 24 sections. The 24 sections will be revealed one section at a time and at random until one player correctly guesses what the image is. If a player answers incorrectly, then the the opponent is allowed to guess with no new sections revealed. If both players are incorrect, more sections will be revealed and play continues for both players. Once either player answers correctly, they earn the points for this round.
  • The second round will start with a question and answer phase. I will roll a 2-sided die to determine which player has preference for each question. Once I read the question, both players may answer. The person that did not win the die roll may PM me their answer if the person that won the die roll hasn't answered, but it isn't required. After both players have answered, the winner is determined by correct answer first, and die roll second (e.g. if both players answer correctly, the person that wins the roll gets control). If neither player answers correctly, a new question is asked and we restart the phase. Correct answers receive 25 points, incorrect answers cost you 10 points (up to 0; no negative scores).
  • After the first successful question and answer phase, the players are shown a blank space broken up into 24 sections. Both players will be given a clue as to what the picture is (e.g. Person, Place, Animal, Food, etc). The player that won the question and answer phase may then select one of the sections to reveal a portion of the picture. This player is then allowed to guess what the picture is. There is no penalty for guessing incorrectly. A correct guess earns the winner 50 points. If the picture is not correctly guessed, we go back to the question and answer phase. This process repeats until the picture is correctly guessed.
  • The third round will be a 100 point Speed Picture round with the same rules as the first round.
  • The final round will start with another question and answer phase with the same rules as the second round, only this time the correct answers will be 50 points each and incorrect answers will cost you 20 points each.
  • After the first successful question and answer phase, the players will both be shown a blank space broken up into 24 sections. The winner of the question or answer phase will be asked whether he wants to "solve or stump". If he chooses to solve, he may reveal one section of his choosing and attempt to guess the picture. Incorrect guesses are not penalized. If incorrect, we go back to the question and answer phase. If correct, the player gets 200 points. If he chooses to stump, he then chooses one section to reveal for his opponent. His opponent must guess at the picture. If the guess is incorrect, his opponent loses 25 points. If his opponent guesses correctly, however, he earns 200 points for himself.
  • If there is a tie, a final Speed Picture tiebreaker round will be done to determine the winner.
  • Bolding
guesses is encouraged, but not required. I will be lenient on the spelling/wording in judging acceptable answers, but all decisions will be ultimately made by me. If an answer is not specific enough, I may ask the player to clarify their answer.

Okay, hopefully those rules are relatively clear. Just ask me if y'all have any questions. If not, we'll get started in ~24 hours.

By the way, I suspect this game will go relatively quick unless the pictures happen to stump y'all.

Alright, everyone. Let's get started with Get The Picture!

The first round will be a Speed Picture round, I'll reveal to you the board we'll be using for this game. Bear in mind that the board is not pixel perfect. I'm no graphic designer. We'll do the best we can over here:

Image

As explained in the rules, I'm going to be revealing one square at a time until the picture is guessed by one of you. In this round, just shout out an answer when you think you know it. If you're wrong, your opponent gets a free shot to guess. There's no penalty for wrong answers.

Using a dice roll, we'll see what number to reveal first.

Original Roll String: 1d24
1 24-Sided Dice: (16) = 16

First reveal is up. After an indeterminate amount of time, I'll reveal a new square. Good luck, guys.

No, not french fries. Aronis, you get a free guess, if you'd like. Otherwise I'll reveal the next square after a while.
