BattleCON G14 - KingdomAces (Tanis) vs. Zorblag (Cadenza)

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Tue Aug 02, 2016 7:30 pm

Post by Zorblag »

It's another game of BattleCON! Welcome to a whole new matchup featuring the Ghostly Puppeteer, Tanis vs. the Clockwork Knight, Cadenza! Wait, is this another fight with a robot? A steam powered robot? And fighting a ghost and some dolls? No, wait, those aren't dolls, they're action figures! Watch out Cadenza! And everyone get ready for our most confusing game yet!

If you're interested in learning about or playing a game yourself at some point I'll point you to the BattleCON discussion thread in the Arcade. For now, thanks to KingdomAces for stepping up to be the next scummer to whale on a Troll in the pbf fighting series!

We'll be playing with Dodge and the Force Gauge.

Ante the first beat will go to Tanis on 1 and Cadenza on 2.
Original Roll String: 1d2
1 2-Sided Dice: (2) = 2

@KingdomAces, go ahead and submit your discard 1, discard 2 and finisher. Remember that Discard 2 is the one you'll get back first. Alos, you'll need to choose the starting positions of Eris, Loki and Mephisto and which you'll switch in for this first beat after you see starting discards and finishers, but before we choose beat 1 attacks.

Sorry for the delay there. Internet went down for Yesterday and most of today.

Spoiler: Beat 1 Attack Pair
Clockwork Shot!
It's boring, but it does the job for most of the attack pairs I can see that you might play.

Spoiler: Reaction Ante
Pass if you Pass.

Yeah, pass. I forgot that there was technically something I could do.

Though it's probably still my turn to decide stuff after this, but I can't right now.

It does look like you get to decide things now, but after all the positioning is done I think you hit for 2 and then I hit for 6 as I'm not on any of your puppets right now. I'll let you sort how you want to move everything about and then give which puppet you're possessing next.

Truly do you have more decisions to make this game than I.

Temporary action, advance to the corner, and put Loki in space 2. That should deal 3 damage and stun. I don't know what I want to do with Mephisto though, so not actually submitting this yet.

Hmm, it looks like we're reading that differently. I guess I'll have to go look up some rules on BGG to see what moved out of the opponent's space means. You seem to be taking it as moving out during any part of the move whereas I'm taking it that the puppet had to start there.

Well, the one reference I can see agrees with you. I think that I'll spend an Iron Body Token to hit you for 6 anyhow and I'll know for the future.

Looks like I have priority at 1. I'll retreat 1. You retreat 1 or 2 and then I think that you're forced to pull 1 and then miss. I'll advance 3 to the center and then you can move one puppet to any space.

Sound right? You certainly move around a lot.

I think I know what I want to do, but actually cutting myself off this time.

And I think that's one of the advantages of the character, so why not. Especially because where I end up isn't where I am at the start of the next beat.

Which is why I'm going to the middle. It's going to take you a lot more thinking than me this game just because of your options, but that's not a bad thing. For either of us really.

Yeah, I didn't realize how slow this would make the game.

Pass, but I don't think I'm going to want to do the next beat yet.

And that's a clash. Nice move.
Spoiler: Beat 3 - Clash 1
Valiant

Grasp
If I Drive now, then I either get clashed again or counterattacked for 4. I think I'd rather you just not have whichever base you choose for a few turns.

And that's the clash I was looking for. I didn't actually consider dash at all (as burst already took care of it.) The Soak 3 was what looked like the obvious way to go.

Spoiler: Beat 3 Attack Pair Clash 1
Force Special
Burst
Strike!
