whether I watch this next movie immediately after posting is entirely dependent on what movie it is, since I'm with my 11-year-old brother atm

Across the Universe -
Flicker
(3/15/19)

Sorry Flicker, but I don't think this one was for me. :( The music is absolutely great, and all the choreography (especially the bowling alley scene) is astounding. Some of the visual effects look dated, but all the musical numbers are very inspired. The problem mainly comes with my feelings on jukebox musicals in general. Most of the time, the plot feels like a loose collection of scenes restricted by the songs the writers had to make the story work around. A lot of filler with not much to get invested in. The love story is very simple, and I could have seen it being more captivating in the hands of two more charismatic leads; as it stands, Evan Rachel Wood and Jim Sturgess don't have much chemistry or range. I'm not surprised Sturgess's career pretty much fizzled out in the few years after this.

I definitely still enjoyed my time watching Across the Universe since the music is done so well and there's always something interesting to look at, but wish there was more in terms of an interesting story! No judgment against anyone who likes it (or anyone movie obviously but you know what I mean, it's not a bad movie, mainly just not my cup of tea)

Since I saw a chicken run dvd in an opp shop I visited yesterday, I'm now going to just choose movies for you to watch based on titles I've seen in shops. (me putting chicken run in had nothing to do with that though), so this one was in the same bin. It does probably mean I have no idea what the movies are I'm submitting for you to watch.
