Question: is there any way I can get anymore sun tiles?
I mean of course, other than winning an auction?
Because if I forfeit my 13, I am not terribly likely to win anything with my 6.

The Sun tiles are a hard limit of the game - no matter what you do, you can never win more than 3 auctions per Epoch in a 4-player game. You'll always have exactly three Sun Tiles, no matter what you do - there's no way of changing that. Winning auctions is the only way to exchange them.
Low tiles may lose to the high ones, but when they do, that means it's one less big tile in play for the remainder of the Epoch. A 7 was able to win three tiles, and it's gone now (from a "being able to spend it this Epoch" perspective) - your 6 now has just as much power as that 7 did.

I haven't played this game at all, so I don't know if I can give good advice. I bid because it was only my 5 and the round was going by fast, but it could have been a mistake.
