Really, Really Slow Notification Times

Is anyone else having an issue with subscription notification times being

really

behind? I just got a notification for a post made in my Fluxx game that was made THIRTEEN minutes ago.

GMail does not usually pull shenanigans like this. Is it an issue on my end, or are others experiencing this?

All I'm saying is that I found it abnormal compared to other forums I've been on and whether or not there was a logical explanation/eventual fix for it. Is ~10 min delay the norm nowadays? It's disorienting more than anything; I get e-mail notifications for posts that I viewed 10 minutes ago, and I can't discern in my mind whether or not it was actually a new post or one I read a few minutes ago. That's why I decided to submit the issue.

Sorry, I really felt like I must have been reading your post wrong, since we went years with no notifications at all. Post edited.

I have no idea what's causing the delay, actually. I don't use the email notifications for threads, so I don't track the time. At a guess I'd say our server is getting backed up due to high load and your notification came out after a crush of other ones. Or Gmail burped? Need more information from anybody else who has noticed this...

But seriously, since this was already here I decided to use it instead of making a new thread as I couldn't seem to find this problem in any others.

Problem: No e-mail notifications at all. No e-mail notification of PMs

What I've done: Checked my E-Mail addy in my profile (it is still correct). Unsubscribed and then resubscribed to the topics I was getting notified on. Cleared my browser cache (I know that is useless but log it off to OCD. Like looking in the place your keys are supposed to be a half dozen times before finding them somewhere else)

I use GMail and it doesn't seem to be blocking any other forum's e-mail notifications so I'm stumped.

Any ideas folks?

I, too, use gmail, and just realized I haven't gotten any notifications since (checking) Oct 25.

Could this be related to the recent db thing?

Huh. No idea... I hadn't even noticed they stopped. I'm not using Gmail, so it's not a filtering thing.

After we get the site+db back in the same place, I'll see if it's still not doing emails.

I haven't been getting Notifications to my email (PMs, namely) from mafiascum for awhile now. I use hotmail, if it matters.

My email is the designated email for

three

accounts here, and I don't get notifications from any of them. I still get the PMs on-site, but no notification.

I think Yabba would be complaining more if he got spammed with all those notifications when we didn't have them suddenly all appearing at once when we started to have them
