Account Activation

I create an account with the username ThePurposeOfArt several days ago. Still awaiting activation. Just wondering...why do accounts require activation?

To prevent spam. mith usually gets to them in several days, holidays notwithstanding.

So I changed the email on a hydra account of mine, and it got deactivated.

I just wanted to let whoever know that it was me and not some spammer, so if whoever does this sort of thing sees
