So... Getting started...

Well, my account finally got activated. I've read a lot of the Wiki, but I still feel a little lost. I checked out the Queue, but it seems like there are very few games open for sign-ups and all are theme games? And I couldn't find any role lists.@_@ Do some games not have them? I want to start playing as soon as possible, but preferrably a large, non-theme game.

Look for the Large Normal games, which are usually labeled
New York #X: Optional Title
. You can also look at the Large Normal queue and see which mods have open signups, then look for threads started by them. Neruz's 137 appears to be open for signup right now, and 134 and 136 are looking for replacements.

However as you're new to the site, you might want to start with a Mini Normal or, if you're used to games with pre-given role lists, Open Queue.

That just looks confusing.O_o I wish people wouldn't always choose wierd names for their Mafia threads. I think that's why it's so confusing.

It's actually not, once you get used to it.

You go to the Queue forum, figure out what kind of game you want to play, and then open that thread and sign up for it by typing "/in".

Useful info can be found here:
FAQ
Newbie Guide
How to Play
Glossary
Rules

And then for later:
Abbreviations
Theory
Roles
More roles

And then for much later:

Those "wierd names" is the name of the mafia game. It's to help identify the game from the other ones. You do not need this, if you do not want it.

Also, next time you have questions, PLEASE keep it to 1 thread per group of questions. That way, you don't use up any unnecessary space, and it saves our sanity. All you needed to do was put a few lines between questions.

These questions all came to me at completely different intervals.

Edit it in the first post, or make a new post in the thread.

That doesn't make much sense in this case.>_>

Considering the title of this thread, it seems like a great place to put all of your questions. For example:

Question #1.

Also, I have a few other questions:

Quetions #2 - #4

This topic is for actually getting started, not a bunch of other questions that are completely unrelated.>_>

You're going to be really fun to play with...

But seriously, all I asked was in the future, to post any questions you might have in a single thread.

OR, you could use a different topic for each different issue, which is why they made different topics in the first place, ani.

If they wanted everything to be run together in one post, then this site would be one huge chatbox. Stop replying, please.

Just checking, have all your questions been answered satisfactorily?

Hi Drako!

If you go back to the main board menu of mafiascum.net (you can get to the page I'm talking about by clicking on "Board Index" right under the logo), you will find the forum titled
Queue
. It's the one with something written in bold right underneath it (I forget what at the moment).

From there you can find the clearly labeled forum called "Large Normal Games" (maintained fastidiously by the great StrangerCoug). Within the first post of that forum you'll find the list of on-going large normal games, including any games that are currently taking sign-ups (helpfully linked).

Hopefully that answers your question and I hope you enjoy your stay here at mafiascum.net. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask them and wait for a response. While you're waiting, I heartily encourage you to read around as lots of helpful information is placed in the most obvious spots we could think of.

At present all of the large themes have pre-requisites ;)

Oh, he was asking about Large Normals, though.

And I was under the impression that large signups were at the individual mod's discretion. Is that not the case anymore?

(Also, good lord, your signup thread with Neruz is full of unnecessary drama. My condolences.)

Are alliances allowed?O_o I mean, I keep reading stuff that says no, but it seems shocking that non-Mafia players are not allowed to communicate and form alliances. My own game was like that, but I realized it doesn't work and changed it.

You're allowed to make public alliances in-thread. I have done it multiple times, and it works great.

You are NOT allowed to communicate OUTSIDE of the thread unless explicitly stated in your role PM.
