I'm constantly getting logged out

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Sun Oct 23, 2011 5:22 am

One thing that has happened a couple of times recently is that I'm getting logged out of MS when I'm putting my laptop in sleep mode during a longer time despite that I (1) have pressed that I wanna be auto-logged in and (2) I'm saving cookies. Any ideas of what this can be?

This is not an issue on other sites where I'm getting auto-logged in

I'm getting this on my phone, but not on any other machine (including my laptop). Can you check that it's not the www/no-www thing? I assume you're using bookmarks, just checking obvious things...

In my bookmark I'm using http://mafiascum.net/forum/ as the URL.

What's the www/no-www thing you're talking about?

Sometimes systems will store a different cookie for http://www.site.com and for http://site.com. It can lead the cookies to get confused and start logging you out... at a guess, sometimes clicking on the index or a link to a specific game will cause the logout? Internally, the site should pretty much respect whether you started with www or not.

I cannot remember that what you're talking about has happened to me.

So your system only does it on restarting after Sleep Mode? Does it matter how long your laptop slept for - for instance, if you slept now for 3 minutes, would it still do it? Or only an overnight/weeklong Sleep cycle?

Does it make any difference if your computer does Sleep on its own (low battery, idle out, etc) or is chosen?

A shorter sleep period of ~10 minutes didn't cause me to get locked out. A period a few hours did however cause me to get loogged out once yesterday and twice today

A turn my laptop completely off almost every time (When I'm not, it's in hibernation mode, but it hasn't been a problem then) when I'm sleeping, and then it hasn't been a problem yet.

I'm always putting my laptop in sleep by simply closing the lid.

Almost every time I'm using the laptop it's being power supplied, so I cannot speak for low battery

Odd.

Do you know how to pull up your cookie in that browser? Can you post the details of it (screenshot or text, whatever's easiest).

I'm using FireFox 6.0.2 on Windows 7

I have quite some cookies that begins with

Code: Select all

ugEvYSDJEOAz2bHadHvOMULTITOPIC_
and after that a 4- or 5-digit number (37 to be precise, some have the same number though).

Other cookies

Code: Select all

ms_mediawikiUserID
ms_mediawikiUserName
ms_mediawikiToken
phpbb3_mscum_u
phpbb3_mscum_k
phpbb3_mscum_sid
ms_mediawiki_session
style_cookie
ugEvYSDJEOAz2bHadHvOPOST_3535829

Edit: Just updated to FF 7.0.1, will wait and see if anything happens now

Your active cookie for the forum should start with phpbb3_mscum*. I'm not sure if multitopic has to do with the new quote code.

At a guess, I'd delete all of those for now, relogin once, and see if that fixes it. If not, you'll lose nothing except some stale cookies. :) If the wiki is giving you no trouble, you can leave those around.

This has been happening a lot to me quite recently. For now it seems to have fixed itself, but in case it doesn't I will return. :P

yeah, the multiquote cookies are to carry the selected posts across pages. The number is the thread id.

Today I had my computer in sleep-mode for 8-9 hours and I got logged out despite that I've(1) cleared cookies (2) updated FF (3) checked that I wanna be auto logged-in.

And the strange thing in all of this is that having my computer completely turn-off for about the same time causes me to get logged-in automatically

Totally bizarre. Are you logging in in the meantime from a different computer? I've noticed that will sometimes (but not always) cause me to logout from my 'original' computer.

Maybe
once on my phone just in the beginning when I started to receive these problems (Edit: and before I cleared my cookies), but I haven't logged in on it today.

Could it have something to do with that I'm using a 64-bit OS?
