can you please switch the "preview" and "submit" buttons in the post reply?
I'm so autoprogrammed that when i actually consider previewing my post(rarely) i end up submitting it...with lots of errors(the most common of which is forgettting my blue tags :( ) the other way dosen't bother me too much; it's mostly an annoyance.
Still, could you consider switching the buttons?

I second that.. I automatically go for the wrong button as well.. (though I hardly ever preview, I couldn't care less about typo's 8-) )

I don't have the problem... the GL must be different, but I don't notice. Maybe just separate them a little more, or make them bigger?

I think I would be more confused if they got switched.

I like them as they are. People SHOULD preview their posts (and a simple tab->space is easy for me.) At least keep the ordering the same, if you do decided to switch them... of course, that makes the tab order non-intuitive.

Is there anyone involved with this board that actually knows how to do that, or has the hacking of phpBB halted completely since I don't have time for it.

(err, more like didn't seeing as I'm building a proton for a He model out of copper wire and solder at the moment.)

Q, if you could give me a quick tour of where the board code is located, I could probably do a hack job or two. I just need someone to jumpstart me :)

Ditto, but you'll probably get more work out of Antrax...

;)

The code can be downloaded freely from phpbb.com. Setting it up along with mysql, php, and apache is a breeze. The code itself is pretty easy to follow and most things can be found with a simple grepping of the code. I'm going to guess that the location of the buttons will be in one of the themes and not the core code itself. I seem to remember almost all of the UI code being in the themes. You be able to download the subsilver theme and fix anything you want in the UI just by hacking on it.

The trick will be getting mith to give you access to the server so you can upload your changes. Make up a good story about how you're going to keep the board current with security updates and then surreptitiously modify things to your will. Something like that... :) Actually, if you can fix it by hacking on subsilver, then you can have any administrator upload the theme using the admin. control panel and then everyone who wants the changes can just select that theme as their default theme.

Speaking of security updates...if no one's staying on top of that then someone has some work to do based on the whats sitting in the "Latest News" box at phpbb.com.

apologies in advance for creative grammer and spelling :)

I think I didn't make myself clear. I'm orange. I'm an admin. I have the access. I just need to know the paths to the code files (and possibly where it stores the DB), because the directories are clogged with files and I have no idea what is what. :)

look in the subsilver directory, that's probably where the location of the buttons are defined unless it's not theme dependent. If the locations aren't theme dependent, then look in posting.php.

New request:

can you make this thread sticky? that way we will know when someone is not posting because they don't want to get lynched or because they're on vacation.

New request:

Is there anyway we can have a gender specification-thingy in profiles?
It's so annoying when you don't know and have to type some ambiguous post rather than refer to people's sex.

I need to tinker with mafiascum. Haven't really done much to it, yet. Both requests will be handled then, it's the same modification, basically.

We could just adopt 'e as the gender neutral third person singular subjective pronoun... I don't know what we do with the objective pronoun, though.
