Adding a sig

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Mon Nov 17, 2003 1:07 pm

Post by Norinel »

I just gave myself a sig to do the traditional plugging of own game with open signups. However, my old posts don't seem to default to displaying the sig, so it'll only appear in new posts. Is there a way of fixing this without editing all of them?

That is really weird... I've never heard of that happening before.

Maybe it's just you. :P

Really? I thought that's how it always worked.

No... normally, when you alter your sig, it immediately applies to
all
your posts (or at least it does to my posts).

It depends on if you have the box checked below which says "Attach Signature", I believe. And it is auto-checked if you have your profile set up to "Always attach my signature". At least, that's how I think it works.

So, it will always change all posts that have that box checked. If it's not checked, you can always go back to them and edit to check that box.

Yeah, I thought that's how it worked. However, I think I had my profile set up to always attach my sig, and the little box didn't get checked for the posts I made when I didn't have one.
So, it will always change all posts that have that box checked. If it's not checked, you can always go back to them and edit to check that box.
Which would take a while, as I have enough posts so that editing all of them would be incredibly time-consuming. (Not to mention that if I didn't have modding powers at the moment, I wouldn't be able to edit my in-game posts) Is there a faster way of doing it?

The only way that is faster is not possible right now... If you had yourself set to not show your sig by default, then it won't be attached to those posts.

If you can wait until I get some free time, you MIGHT be able to convince me to update the database manually (it's a simple three line command-- once I'm connected to the database...)

But, while I'm working 12 hours days, not including the 2 hours travel time, I doubt I will bother attempting to connect to the database (the connection in my room is SLOW, I'm changing hotels, if it's better, I'll consider helping out.)
