I'm confused (How do I get Mod status)

I've read News and Help and the topic in Queue that says sign up for Mod status, and I can't figure out how I am now supposed to apply for Mod Status. Does it happen automatically now? Is there something somewhere that is invisible to everyone but me?

You put in a request to join the group that has mod status for the forum you want... ex: capodecime. You can to that either by clicking the link by the forum name or by clicking usergroups and finding the right one.

Then the group mod, approves you and you have mod status for that fourm.
