half the class was playing counterstrike. the other half (except for the few of us either working on our projects or just using the comps to check random forums) were playing mtg.... my green deck is uber now :) but, my teacher still kicks my butt with his blue deck- blah, i'lll never get past those counterspells!!!!
ok, sorry. anyway, yeah, there's not much programming going on anymore since we only have to do our final project and then we're done. but any idea why it only lets me not post to the gl? but it does to mafiascum?

hmm does saving the password to your schools computer not help?
I couldnt do anything on my schools computer till I did that, it is annoying though because I get paranoid ...
What is the point of using foul language, downright rudeness, slurs, etc on a gaming site? This is really distasteful.

Did you check the date of this thread? And I would not recommend saving your password on your schools computers. At the very least, clear the cookies after you are done...

oooh! can my post count be pi? or e? i?

no! it want the squareroot of 2. it's a nice number.

(oh, the reason i couldn't get to the gl is the same reason that we can't get to yahoo mail and other such things- because the administrators are intenet nazis... but we solved the problem by hooking up a wireless internet thingy to one of the computes and we just bring in laptops... meh.)

I've pretty much stayed out of the discussions of "should we disable post count/only count game posts/blahblahblah" because, as one of the top posters on the site, my opinion might seem biased. You all know me. I've not ever posted just to up my count. I play the hell out of every game I'm in and comment when I feel like commenting in the discussion threads.

But, here goes. I do not like the idea of only counting mafia posts
at all
. If you want to change the way the count is reflected then hide it...make it only available in profile...don't have a "top ten posters" option in the member list. But why screw around with the number itself? And I'll also say that I am quite discouraged about the fake post count that jeep currently has. I think that makes more of a mockery of the board than people spamming to inflate their count does. At least the spam can be chalked up to the fact that they're 1) eager...2) young...3) whatever. But jeep, you're a board elder with the power to put your count at >1 mil with a few key strokes. If you're trying to prove that post count is unimportant, I think you could make your point more effectively by putting yours at "3" instead of your current number.

I know, I know, it's just a joke. I just didn't think it was funny. I'm tired of feeling like I should be ashamed about having a high post count and that I have to prove myself worthy of my count. Hide the damn thing and I think everyone can quit complaining about it.

One of the many things I like about the GL is that it does just that. All posts are counted, but they are not visible, unless you open someone's profile.

Well, I found it to be funny, jeep. But maybe that's because I've seen the same discussion and "prank" on the GL with Aga's post count (his count was decreased by one every new post).

MeMe, you should not feel discouraged about it. Why should you have to prove yourself worthy of your post count? I mean, it's obvious that you participate in a lot of games and dedicate yourself to them. A moron can see this. You don't continuously make posts containing two words and I don't see your name at the bottom of every single thread created in the last half year (well, with the exception of "Little Italy" ;)). And that's the difference. It's not the high post counts that people don't like, it's the way people post. And there's nothing wrong with the way you're posting.

Just thought I'd let you know.

Because it seems to be taking on too important of a role and people post just to get the number up.
And I'll also say that I am quite discouraged about the fake post count that jeep currently has. I think that makes more of a mockery of the board than people spamming to inflate their count does.
How so? Just so you know: My post count is 1000000 less than what it shows. Easy to undo...even if there wasn't a feature that goes through and resynch's everyone's post count- which there is.
I'm tired of feeling like I should be ashamed about having a high post count and that I have to prove myself worthy of my count.
My point!!! You shouldn't have to feel ashamed or feel like you need to prove yourself. The fact that you feel that way is a clear indication that there is a problem. I will talk to mith about this. I like having a way to indicate the more experienced people so newbies know who they can go to with questions. I don't like that people post for the sake of getting their post count up.

I lean towards removing it from the template so it doesn't show up in every post and people will have to look it up in the profiles to see it.
