City:
Amstaad
Title:
City of Fate
World:
Hais

Geography-

Amstaad is considered the Trade Capital of Hais. Located as a major port on the Hildenward Sea, all the Nations and Races traverse to Amstaad and back for essential goods not located in their homeland. The Amuk River flows through the center of the city dividing into two deltas at the rivers end. To the South is nomad country known as the Tituk Wastes. To the west are the Elves with their ever growing forests. To the east rise mountains to house the mighty dwarfs. Finally across the vast expanse of the Hildenward Sea lays the crumbling nation of the once proud Passani. The city itself holds fertile lands on it's outskirts to provide grain and supplies making it very self sufficient.

Infrastructure-

The city is essentially divided into two sections. The inner part of the city known as Old Amstaad is filled with ancient buildings from the Triumvirate Era. This is when Dwarfs, Elves, and humans shared joint control over the city. Overall, the inner city is clustered together around the river with various greenland spread between. A wall divides the inner city from the outer city which holds the new age buildings of Humans, Slith, Dwarfs, Elves, etc. The surrounding city is much more separated and not as dense as the inner city.

There is a third portion of the city for nobles which lies on a sliver of land in the inner city. The land is split due to the two deltas on either side. Several of the more wealthier homes have been remolded here to house Amstaad's Royalty.

Culture-

The best part of living in Amstaad is the vast culture that has blended together. Although racial tensions are still present, one must learn to accept the ways of other cultures as there is no bound laws against any specific race. The reason being that the city is a neutral trade ground and not meant to be controlled by any one nation.

Population-
By far, Humans are the most common presence in the inner and outer city. The first settlers that started Amstaad were Human Tik-Tuk and the first Nation to claim Amstaad were Human Passani. Needless to say, human influence has spread over the Culture Capital and is not easily avoided. The Slith and dwarfs are the second most common sight as their homeland remains the closest to Amstaad. Dwarf architecture remains strong in the inner city as well as the wall that surrounds it. Slith do not care much for crafting homes so their mud huts remain sparse on the outskirts of town. The Elves had a part in creating Amstaad but soon left it once they realized it too much of a burden to hold. The Aerins hold the smallest population in Amstaad but remain a huge influence in politics.

Races-

Spoiler: Human (Tik-Tuk)
Ranging from 4'6" to 5'9", the nomad race are not the most intimidating of people. Their dark skin and toned bodies give evidence of a race that is used to labor under the sun. The Tik-Tuk have endeared many hardships as time has gone by and while they are responsible for the birth of Amstaad, they hold no real presence there Politically. Overall, they are simply the backbone of the City of Fate and serve to keep it afloat by working the fields and harvesting fish from the ocean. Without the Tik-Tuk, surely the city would starve. Unfortunately, the race is not particularly intelligent giving their rivals an easy advantage and keeping them on the bottom of the totem pole aside for the Slith.

Spoiler: Human (Passani)
Taller and more slender then their Tik-Tuk counterpart, the Passani are much more accustomed to life in the shade. They have progressed quickly giving them advantages in weaponry and technology which is why they conquered the Tik-Tuk so easily. The Passani think highly of themselves and attempt to influence other races to join their religion and way of thinking. While the Passani are excellent fighters, they are also rash and arrogant. There is a small population of these Humans that have learned from other races and become scholars proving that if they wanted, the Passani could easily adapt to other situations.

Spoiler: Slith
Large and brutish, the Slith are not a pleasant sight to see. The lizard race is easily the strongest of all but at the cost of intelligence. Still, who needs smarts when your body is hard as a rock. The Slith live in the wilderness, refraining from the bright lights of the civilized world, but as their numbers began to decrease, the elders of the Slith tribes decided it was time to move on. Now the race inhabits the outskirts of Amstaad, doing their part to keep the City strong while avoiding attention on themselves. Being what they are, the other inhabitants of Amstaad use caution when around them. Still, the Slith are loyal to their kind and to their city despite the apprehension against them.

Spoiler: Elves
A handsome race with an affinity for Nature. The elves inhabit the forests to the west of Amstaad and while many live in the Inner City, most refuse to associate themselves with the City of Fate. The reasoning is because Elves do not trust anyone other then elves. Even the Aerens who serve no purpose other then peace are deemed a threat by the proud elven race. The Elves hold much power with the Inner City and will continue to hold onto this power to keep balance amongst the races. Despite not wanting to affiliate themselves with other races, the elves understand the importance of Amstaad and will not let it grow without elfish influence.

Spoiler: Dwarfs
Even though the Tik-Tuk founded the city, it was the dwarfs that made it grand and it is this reason that they remain such a strong presence in it. The mountains to the east hold many elaborate tunnels in which the dwarfs call home. It is for this reason that if any secretes remain in Amstaad, it would be a dwarf to find it. They have a natural affinity for treasure and make excellent use of their ability to find and build. The dwarfs are hardy and resilient and will likely never give up their strong influence in Amstaad's Inner City.

Spoiler: Aeren
The bird folk who inhabit the mysterious "City in the Sky" care little for influence and conquest. Their population is small and their stature smaller makes the Aeren easy targets for domination minus the simple fact that they can fly. Aeren's are elusive and quick and not just quick physically, but mentally as well. Their ability to understand a situation and talk with a silver tongue makes them ideal for Politics and surprisingly, tour guides. The Aeren's saved Amstaad from destruction during the Triumvirate Wars by convincing the three races to settle for peace which puts them in a pretty dominate position amongst the Council of Nine.
