yeah, I figured that out.

Happy about the option. Would it be fair to say that next time that when a new feature is released like this that it should be optional on release? Well, there really was no way to tell the public reaction to it...

Option space with the system as it is is limited, so its not safe to say that all new features will be optional.

So, I'd like some clarification.

Can we still bitch about (and petition against) obnoxious sigs here?
....what?

Uhm, is this the reason why some sigs now have "Show" in front of them?

Is there a line limit or something?

Line Limit, exactly right (I believe it's 4, including blanks).

Check out the UCP. If you want to see the longer sigs (including bold & colour) again.

Signature simplified. Not sure why sigs are letting banned tags in again, but I have my suspicions.

In extreme cases, yes. I'm not convinced Umbrage's is that bad, but I've only had to look at it for about 9 minutes so far.

Initially I thought it was just shaft.ed being his usual "I hate everything unique self", it is now annoying and distracting and distracts me from any post Im reading which is near a Umbrage avi.

Edit: This may be a case of the witches in Macbeth though.

I found it pretty annoying when I was using Quick Reply to make a post in a thread he just posted in.

Edit: And I don't consider myself averse to him either.

I hate animated avatars
I get headaches reading threads populated by his posts now
try reading discussion forums without him in them

I think there should be a blanket ban on animated avatars.

In general, animated avatars and images in sigs rank a forum high on the shittiness scale.

I think you can safely say that with shaft.ed its almost certainly to do with the fact the avi is obnoxious and not because Umbrage is.

As a defense of animation being allowed, I bring Ser Arthur Dayne's avatar into the discussion:
It's cool, tasteful, and not obnoxious at all.

Umbrage's is kind of annoying though.

If it wasn't Umbrage, I doubt anybody would have said boo. I'm not convinced.

That said, Umbrage could slow down the animation a bit and I bet it would go over better.
