Where to Sign Up?

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Mon Aug 06, 2012 10:19 am

I just signed up, but I'm unaware of where to sign up for a game. I'm going to sign up for a Road to Rome game if any are open.

This is what you're looking for. Just type /in, and you'll be good.

We should change the name of Queue to Game Signups

That is a surprisingly good suggestion. I mean, it says it right under "queue" but it's not as obvious.

As long as we're discussing the issue, we might as well make it 'Mafia Game Signups'

I
like
Queue. It's classy and British.

It's fine. We had one person get confused. It happens. No need to change it.

It's hardly the only time it's happened, and not everyone who is confused posts. I don't care about this individual person. I just think that when it comes to new players, we should do everything in our power to make the transition from them seeing our website to them playing their first game go as smoothly and quickly as possible. New players are the lifeblood of our site, and at least last I checked, that stream has slowed. That's why I hate how long it takes (or at least used to take, I don't know if it's still true) for a new player to get their account accepted, and then how long it takes to get a newbie game going sometimes.

I think it's an easy change that might be beneficial. Our system is NOT exactly intuitive with its various threads and different types (for this type of game you sign up in the main game type thread, but in THAT type of game you sign up in individual threads!), so making one part easier makes sense to me.

Incidentally, when
was
the last you checked? ;)

When I signed up here, it took me a fair bit to figure out where to sign up, regardless of it being in bold and in the description of the top forum. It should be even more obvious imo
As much as I like it myself, the word "Queue" isn't all things to all people, and if people only like it because it's charmingly British, then there's your first problem.

That said, it isn't very hard. The first set of forums is under the title MAFIA GAMES. Surely one of those has to be where you sign up for mafia games. It's called common sense. Use it.

I found it within 5 seconds back before when we were phbb2. And I'm really bad for not noticing things.
