But I like your name! The avatar is pretty neat, too. It looks like something that a financial services company or investment bank would have as a logo.
would be fun to be able to voluntarily connect posting histories between accounts though so as to simultaneously search a player's posts on multiple accounts
But that's not the issue, Marquis. The problem comes when someone goes to read an old game full of posts by Johnny, but everyone's talking about and voting for Janey, with nary a Johnny to be found.

i know; i'm not talking about changing the name. i'm talking about making it easily possible to connect the posting histories only. you could have someone link that in their sig, but i'm still looking for a way to search all the posts on multiple accounts across multiple threads
That's kind of what I was thinking too, how to make it easy (if a person wants obviously) to make their main\former main and alt posts searchable in one place.
i mean i use my friend function to keep track of my alts and hydras so if anything could be done similarly but also let you search all posts of members in a certain group you dictate or something like that it would def make searchlife easier : ]

I'm not sure how many games are run on here, but a work around might be too have a public list of name changes (vs. alts which are privateish).

FF.net ties your login to your email address and your user id. The username can be changed there because it isn't used to log in.

This has absolutely nothing to do with it. The forum has the technology built in to allow name changes. In rare cases's we've even allowed/forced them. It just makes old games harder to follow.

My apologies then. Perhaps something can be done on a user's profile or postbit that shows their old username/usernames?
