Maybe this is a question that I should already know the answer to, but I'd like to make a player wiki page for myself and i'm not sure of the right way to do it.
Should I be creating a general page called TheBrie or User:TheBrie? I have no experience editing wikis so I'm really not sure what I'n doing at all.

1. open your mouth
2. insert the wikipedia cd
3. close your mouth

water yourself every day, get plenty of sun, and eventually, maybe, with luck, you will turn into a wiki page

hope this helps!

Make both.
If you make [[User:TheBrie]] your main wiki page, create the page which would come up for
[[TheBrie]]
...And add this:

Code: Select all

#REDIRECT:[[User:TheBrie]]

Vice-versa, too.
If you make [[TheBrie]] your main wiki page, create the page which would come up for [[User:TheBrie]] and add this:

Code: Select all

#REDIRECT:[[TheBrie]]

For instance, my wiki page (feel free to steal content/code from it at will, btw) is set for mastina.
This is the page I redirected from.

I'd heavily recommend a wiki which is broken up into subpages. (With each subpage named "TheBrie/Nameofsubpage", e.g. "TheBrie/Played Games".) If you do have subpages, two quick recommendations:
-There are multiple ways to have tabs on your user profile (the way on mine is actually called 'tabs'), and linking to subpages is a good idea. After all, the subpages aren't on the main page! You need to give people a way to find them.
-Add this to your subpages: "[[Category:ScummerSubpages]]". This will make them easier to locate.

I could probably give more, but this should at least get you started!

(Incidentally everything I know about the wiki I pilfered from random pages here and there, scrounged together random snippets of code and made a conglomeration of them that is what you see--if you'd like I can help edit things, though to do so I'd need for you to tell me more of what you want on there. I would encourage you to try on your own first, though. After all...there's no guarantee I've done things best. My wiki has notable flaws on it. You might find something better than what I have. Plus it's more rewarding. Which feels better? Knowing you personally hand-crafted your wiki painstakingly, or knowing that some random person halfheartedly threw it together for you? Still, the offer is there if you want it.)
