I'm trying to think of a better option, but other than the pointless check (it's a wasted move because it doesn't actually do anything significant in fact it actually helps black), but right now all I can think about is either continuing risky-nothingness moves orrrrrrrrrrrrrr...going through with the bloodbath.

Black may be at a disadvantage but that depends on whether I remember how to maneuver white and if I can remember how to maneuver black neither of which is guaranteed, so. We'll have to see.
