WHY IS NOTTY MR POPULAR
ok I go back to sleep

This breaks your post resrtiction. You can't talk about notsy in public for another (expired on 2015-10-30 08:00:00). --PLast edited by Plotinus on Wed Oct 28, 2015 4:28 am, edited 1 time in total.-

You can't possibly have a reason for this.-

I don't see why I should be restricted to talk about someone for no reason. I think it suffocates the game.
Though, I don't have a lot of experience with this mechanic (obviously, I didn't even understand fully how it worked, as I've already broken it. Oops). Maybe I'm just not following your thought process? I just don't see the benefit. I feel restricted. That's it.-

To be perfectly honest, I was going to say I probably wasn't going to use the mechanic at all this game. Unless 100% necessary.
I'll play along, but I think your logic about this, and about the vote on me is entirely backward. There is no honest way you could think I'm scum from that post. That would be thinking upside down.
I can understand the current room I'm in more than any other room in the game. There is a valid reason for it.-

@76: Ok see this right here, it's discussion, and I'll wager it's going to be much more useful in people's minds throughout the game than rvs stuff. And I don't get what is restricting about it. Ok you can't talk about someone for a short period. It's two irl days. But you can talk to them behind closed doors which is really really useful. These are neighbourhoods where you aren't restricted by mod wifom. That makes them incredibly useful. If two people are town reading each other it functions like a mason QT which is epic. If anything it brings about wonderful opportunities for scumhunting in a one on one environment and lets people drill others for a spell when they can't call for public aid. There is so much potential int he mechanic I don't understand how limiting yourself to the ingame thread is useful at all.
@77: Yes I understand you and notti having the room. Munch of this stuff was discussed prior to the game starting (as in before role PMs) and I knew notti wanted a hood with you from the outset. I also expressed interest in using them for 1v1s with people, if any exist, that disliked the way I play, specifically so I could be obtuse to try and infuriate people in to becoming easier to read. I feel like this style of play is strengthened by the pure 1 on 1 environment because things need to be taken without context that other players can provide. Yet another reason why I think varied hoods are great.
As for the plan, it could work with anyone, the point being we as town take someone out of the game and then are able to come back later on and draw up our responses on how we view that player after seeing them in a one on one situation. Then that gets contrasted in the game thread when they can talk again. I really like this approach as it lets us still have a functioning game where not too many people are held up for a couple of days, while providing a wealth of resourrces people can draw from, especially later in the game after we have flips. Day one with this mechanic is actually crucial to how the game splits open later on. This game has potential t be solvable as soon as tomorrow based entirely on relational tells.
Then you have the situation where as chance would have it we might pick a person who is actually scum. Then awkward conversations come up because of scum potentially not being able to talk to one another. (Another thing that twinged me about you slipping up just before)
I really don't see why this mechanic shouldn't be abused. And I feel that not using it offensively against scum is a really big mistake.
1) ... did you really just ask me what the point of making a joke was?
2) Mod WIFOM? What? Okay, no, I'm seriously confused. I don't see why I need to talk to someone behind closed doors unless I'm confident that they're town. Which no one is at this stage in the game. I see the benefit of them but I don't see why spamming the game with them at the start is in any way helpful. In the first few pages I want to see every one talking about everything and I want every one to have the ability to talk about everything.
3) Man, I don't even like 1v1s.-

The thing is you have no idea who scum is right now.
I get it, it's a really important feature IN THIS SETUP.
Especially because if you can go and talk to someone and be like "Yo, I'm going to protect _____" tonight, so if I die, you know that this person could have potentially been the nightkill target.
BUT NO ONE IS TOWN-READING ANYONE that strongly yet.
This is actually clogging the game thread with room votes rather than actual votes that will push the game forward.-

1) "nothing is gained" man not everything has to be black and white, some info is gained. Yeah, sure, there's a chance scum targeted themselves but there will be a more likely explanation in each case. Occam's razor.
2) Yes, yes, I got that. But again, why do we have to limit people from talking about some people immediately? I don't feel the need to drill people right now. I feel the need to talk about everyone about my reads.
3) IT'S BEEN OUR ONLY DISCUSSION THUS FAR. 95% of the thread has been room and setup talk.-

Everyone is a bodyguard. There is next to zero chance scum are going to kill who they target. If anything, the person they target has the least chance of dying out of everyone because they can't protect themselves.
Man, if I was scum I would not shoot myself.-

I think we should do this methodically- as in, take one person, create him/her rooms with every other player and let them talk (like we began doing at the beginning with notscience). In the meantime, the rest can have an open discussion.
This is pretty much what I'm saying.-

I guess we're just gonna have to PoE.
— NS immediately came to me when he slipped and confessed it and joked about freaking out. He talked about his town reads with legitimate reasons that I don't think scum could fake. But I mean he did disappear. He's trying to talk to me though. But I don't think scum NS would just nope out and then talk to me behind the walls. He's town, for now.notscience*
— Decided to meta herrcombs, even though there were no scum games, it did make me feel better about him. I liked his entry, his stance on the mechanic, and then his stance vs. Espe and I argument. I wouldn't say herr is my strongest townread, he's probably my weakest, because most of his posts I could see being stances scum would take. It wouldn't have been hard for me to pick apart Espe's argument as scum either because it was mainly based around logic.herrcombs
The_Jester*
— I'm so conflicted on Postie because I don't agree with most of her stances (her initial stance on Jester, for example) nor do I agree with picking apart a post with "Why"s as being a good strategy for scum hunting. But I think the fact she's taking this stances and doing this in the first place is more town than it is scum.Postie
— I townread wgeurts for his entry. Man, I don't know maybe that was enough for me. Then his "TOO MANY TOWNREADS" really aligned with how I felt and I think town is a lot more likely to admit to no scum reads. Cause scum would normally fake reads. I have no problem with RC right now. The entry was eh with the "I would have voted myself" but it doesn't bug me that much.RadiantCowbells/wgeurts
Apricity*— Again, really townreading him for the entry. But there isn't enough for me to bet my read on just the one post. I meta'd his game and it does seem that he has more "solid" reads in this one but there's still not a lot there to go on.
— I think talking about mechanics too much distracted Esp from ever having to talk about any stances on players.Espeonage**
Read on Tere later.-

Why are people townreading me when I've barely done anything? There are a bunch of people I'm townreading.
I think if I would have to place my bottom of the list it would be Espe and Apricity. Then I would shoot at uh, maybe Postie. I feel RC and Tere are town. Herr and Notscience I'm less confident about but I think Notscience > Herr. Postie I have no fucking clue but I know I'm not alone on that read, so Postie if you're town please protect the person you think is going to die because I don't think anyone knows if you're obvtown or obvscum at this point. Jester could be slipping under my radar completely.
That's where I'm at, yo.-

Yes, my only reason is I have no reason to townread him and I actually had a reason to scumread him and I haven't felt that way about anyone else yet.
I think it's solid. I think he's easily identifiable as scum faking literally everyone of his posts. Everyone else? Eh, not so much.-

@Postie, when did you read on Espe change? Can you walk me through that? Why are you okay with lynching him now?
Also, you described your scum game as awkward in the one you played. Why do you think that is?-

I lied to you.
But I claimed this lie to two people.
I wanted to see if you would die, and if so, notscience would be scum. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Y'all are moving too fast. You're pretty much telling me Herr and Notty are partners.-

NS wanted to "test" RC. I don't know what his plan was. But I wanted to test NS so I went along with it.
NS and Tere both knew. I sure Tere would have been able to work out if RC died, that NS would have been scum.-

I'm buying the same logic everyone else is. Jester would have been the only person to take the shot at RC, knowing Herr was protecting them. If Postie was scum, she probably would of shot at Jester or me over Herr any day.
Also, that self-vote, lmfao. How can that ever be town?-
