By and large, this game uses Callforjudgement's Standard Rules. There shouldn't be any huge surprises in there if you're familiar with how games normally work on this site. If you aren't familiar with typical rulesets (or if you've never read the sitewide rules), go read it.
Here's a quick reminder of the most frequently broken rules:
A1. Players are expected to be active within the game.
A2. Do not discuss Mafia games outside their game threads until they have finished.
A3. Do not discuss the spelling, timestamps, etc. of any non-public communication.
A4. Stay civil to the other players.
Choices and Modifications
Factions
:7 Mafia against 2 Town, no third parties, no Vanilla Townies.
In a change to my normal ruleset, the Mafia win condition is "You win if half or more of the living players are Mafia".
Phase sequence
:Day Start
Deadlines
:
Day deadlines are
random
and
secret
; see "Setup-specific Rules" below.
Days will end early if there have been no vote changes for 48 hours, or if all players agree.
Night deadlines are 72 hours long.
Prod timers
:
For regular slots: 72+24; 48+24; 48+0.
Hydras have tighter activity requirements: 48+24; 36+24; 36+0.
Players who come back to the thread before I find a replacement may continue after the third prod, but not after the fourth.
Voting method
:
Special
; see "Setup-specific Rules" below.
Daytalk
:Enabled for all private topics
Action limits
:Each player is limited to, at most, 1 personal action plus 1 factional action per night.
Setup-specific Rules
This is a game where
Every Vote Counts
; lynches don't just care about the largest "wagon" (set of votes on a given player), but take every vote into account. The way it works is this: at the end of each day, a
randomly chosen
player will be lynched, but the probability of a player being lynched will be proportional to the number of votes on that player. So for example, if there are four votes on player A, one vote on player B, and no other votes, player A will have an 80% chance of being lynched, and player B will have a 20% chance of being lynched.
Day deadlines will also be random (otherwise, you could ensure that a vote wouldn't count via planning to retract it before the day ended, which would be fairly contrary to the spirit of this game). There will be a 1% chance a Day deadline falls during its first 24 hours; a 2% chance it falls during the second 24-hour period (given that it didn't fall during the first 24 hours); a 3% chance it falls during the third 24-hour period, if it didn't fall earlier; and so on. Note that this means that Days will end within their first week, on average, approximately a quarter of the time, and will only reach their third week around one third of the time.
As an exception to my normal rules, there will be no "hammer votes" or other method of ending a day early by majority vote (because votes "past a majority" are potentially useful in this game). Rather, a day will end early if nobody changes their vote for 48 hours. It can also be ended early if all players agree, via posting a bolded comment like
End the day
in the thread; pending requests to end the day will be invalidated if a player changes their vote. (And as usual in my rulesets, Nights can be also ended early if every player PMs the mod requesting this.)
Sample role PM
This is a
Closed
setup; the exact distribution of power roles will not be confirmed by the moderator until the end of the game. However, it's guaranteed that
there are no Vanilla Townies
in this game. Nonetheless, this is what a Vanilla Townie role PM might look like, if there were:
Also, what is NM doing? Worst play I’ve ever seen.
I can't remember the last N_M post that wasn't bland, unimaginative and lame. Some shitposters are at least somewhat funny. You are the epitomy of the type of poster that nobody would miss if you were to suddenly disappear. You never add anything of value.
I'm guessing you haven't read the game and probably never will? Why even sign up to play?

I'm not overly concerned about random EOD at this point.
