I think that (most?) everyone who played this game has played several games at MS in the past, though some of you are fairly new to the site.

If you have any feedback about the setup in terms of newbie friendliness I'd love to hear it.

I went back and forth a bit about making the non-Jailkeeper slot a ninja instead of an ascetic, and might have done so if some super recent newbies had joined this game.

If you've played some normal setups, especially micro normals, your thoughts about this design's accessibility compared to current normals would be particularly useful to me.

I'd like to run games like this once every 6 months or so.

I would make the size of a 3p mafia team in a micro known during pregame, and probably during signups. But I think such a 9p setup would be inherently too scumsided. Open games are a little different, and many open micros with 3p scum teams don't have a nightkill, which is better balanced.

Why was I killed? Very rare for me to be N1ed, and I was very obviously VT imo. Most scum prefer to take their chances against me, and generally they are rewarded for it.

I didn't think too hard about it. I decided I was going for bugspray, with Pav and Dwlee in reserve on D2, and I thought it would be low info.

It was funny watching some of the set up spec after having gone through the design process with ffery. Part of "newbie friendly" in the discussion was simplicity in roles.

Simple roles, but less straight forward interactions.

Novice was kind of out there for what we were looking at tbh,and we questioned including it.

So then I saw talk of 3 man Mafia teams, and then Val's fake claim, and I found it kinda funny.

Ffery and I had both never heard of the "checker" role that Val claimed. We looked it up, and it's kind of a meme role tbh.

Joat was already pushing it, but I think the checker claim could have used some more scrutiny

I felt like Val's role was extremely ridiculous and I didn't understand why scum would ever roleblock there and I should have taken that to mean Val was just scum. I think I got caught up in it being so ridiculous that why would scum ever claim it kind of thing.

That ended up being my intent, in the end, Dwlee.

I initially crumbed JOAT so that I had an excuse to be wary of StDs claim - I as going to claim one of my shots was a roleblock, and could say "Why would town have a one shot RBer when I have a one-shot RB + plus others".

When Pav claimed, I abandoned it and thought I would just claim VT when it came to it, but I was a little concerned about being found Asetic. When Meg was all "I want Val to claim", I thought that was the issue - they had targeted me. I assumed had to go big or go home and claimed a JK shot, expecting Meg to say "OK, that's why I go no result on you then".

I don't remember where I saw the checker, I was just browsing the wiki trying to find 1-shots that might make sense. I thought it could work with the claimed roles, and would add to the "Val doesn't come up with this on his own" vibe I was aiming for.

I knew there was a big chance of it ending badly for us, but decided it was worth the risk. There wasn't a point I decided it was a good idea to throw Pooky under the bus D1 either, it just...happened organically while trying to replicate my town game. I was so tempted to jump off them and on to bugspray when it as floated as an idea close to deadline, but I was confident town would figure out what had happened if one or the other of us flipped in future, and couldn't find a good way to get off in time.
