GAME RULES
Image

GENERAL

Spoiler:
-Adhere to all site rules.
-Always play to win.
-Remember that this is a game - heated discussion is allowed, but personal attacks are not. Comment on play, not player.
-Pretending to break the rules will be treated similarly as actually breaking the rules.
-Do not quote any private communication regarding this game—this includes your role PM, other mod communication, posts from private threads, etc. Paraphrasing is acceptable. If you're unsure, ask me first.
-If you need to get my attention, please include "
@mod
" in your post or PM me.
-
This
(#969696) is my color. You can use it, if you want, but please don't try to impersonate me.
-Do not use encryption, hidden text or excessively small text in your posts.
-Do not use any form of provable randomness. This includes dice tags, screenshots of random.org, etc. Saying you flipped a coin is okay, providing some sort of proof that you did isn’t.
-Each day phase will last 10 days.
-Players are allowed one non-game relevant "bah" post after their deaths. Otherwise, do not post in the game thread or any private topics following your death, with the exception of the dead thread.
-If you have the ability to edit your posts, do not do so.
-My decisions are final. If I feel you are violating any of the rules, I will take the appropriate action.
-As a general principle, whenever moderator action is required I will attempt to make the decision that has the least impact on the natural flow of gameplay. For example, force replacing instead of modkilling whenever possible.
-Have fun!

VOTING

Spoiler:
-All votes and unvotes must be in
bold
or in VOTE: tags, with vote tags being preferable.
-Votes in spoilers will not be counted.
-Abbreviations and nicknames are acceptable, as long as I can understand them.
-Unvotes are not necessary before revoting.
-Lynches will occur when a majority (>50%) is reached. If no majority is reached before deadline, the day will end in a no-lynch
-Voting to end the day in a no-lynch requires only 50% of players rather than >50%.
-Once a hammer has occurred, the game is in "twilight". Discussion may continue until I lock the thread but no further votes or unvotes will be counted.

ACTIVITY

Spoiler:
-You are expected to make at least one game-relevant post every 48 hours. Players who go 48 hours without posting will be prodded.
-If you are prodded, you have 24 hours to post in-thread. If you do not respond within 24 hours, you will be replaced. Additionally, if I have to prod you 3 or more times, I reserve the right to replace you at my own discretion.
-Abuse of prod dodges will result in you being replaced at my own discretion.
-If you are going to be V/LA, please announce it in thread or PM me. If your V/LA will last 7 days or longer I may be forced to replace you.

GERIATRIC

Spoiler:
As taken from the Geriatric Players Club:
This game is played under the Geriatric ruleset. This means that posting frequency is restricted as follows:
  1. Every player is allowed a maximum of 10 posts in a 24 hour period. In the 24 hour period immediately preceding a deadline, players are allowed a maximum of 15 posts. I'll just be using each new CST day as a new 24-hour period. I don't anticipate this being a problem, but if one comes up I'm certain it can be clarified and resolved.
  2. Every player starts with a reserve of 20 additional posts. Any posts above the daily limit are subtracted from this reserve.
  3. Players who deplete their reserve will receive a warning. Any further infractions after that will incur mod punishment.
  4. If a player has hit the daily limit and depleted their reserve, they are allowed
    one
naked vote change per in-game Day.
The following are guidelines for playing within the restrictions of the Geriatric ruleset, and are designed to reduce the pace and improve comprehensibility.
  • Know how to let off the gas. Momentum is important, but this is not a race. This is a game of cooperation - make sure you don't leave anyone behind.
  • Don't forget you're always speaking to everyone. One-on-one conflicts have their place, but they can quickly take over a thread - and nobody is interested in spectating five pages of others arguing. You don't need to have the last word - if you're stuck making the same arguments to the same people, let the thread breathe and give others a chance to weigh in.
  • Compose your thoughts. Before submitting a post, reread yourself and cut, edit, and format your message. Make sure your point is clear, and highlight any arguments you make. For example, distinguish separate subjects with expandable spoilers or area tags.
  • As an overly general rule, any post that is shorter than three sentences is too short, and any post that doesn't fit on a single computer screen is too long.

SETUP

Spoiler:
As designed by mith:
  • This game is confirmed 3:6 Mafia to Town.
  • Nightless.
  • After the first Mafia member is lynched, the remaining Mafia must choose a member to be the "Flag Bearer" for the remainder of the game.
    • Town wins when the "Flag Bearer" is lynched. Mafia win when they equal the Town.
    • After the first Mafia member is lynched, the thread will remain locked for a 24 hour discussion period while the mafia decide upon the Flag Bearer.
  • No lynching for three days in a row will result in a draw.

Hello there.

VOTE: cheekyteeky

Why? Who knows...

Anyways I figured I'd explain why I am playing a geriatric game because I can.
Often times when I play mafia, I always try and not post that much because I feel like I post too much and then I end up spam posting the game around the middle of day 1 and yeah. So maybe this rule set in my mind will keep me from making triple-quadruple posts. Also I can't speak well concisely and I never edit my posts barring maybe the first few, so I guess I'll try and keep my posts my "professional." No promises though.

As for the setup, I really didn't care for the setup when I joined so I guess I'll go ahead and check it out.

I don't believe I am wasting a full post on an RVS

Conservation is my middle name. Not a wasted letter in my posts.

-Brass Conservation Herald

No waste here. Definitely not a terrible joke in a geriatric game to read.

I believe attempting to no lynch in a nightless setup is far more likely to come from a member of the mafia. I am but an advocate for midday calorie reduction.

theslimer's probably town. If scum, I doubt he starts the game by needlessly attracting attention to himself.

Why would mafia want to no lynch in a nightless game anyway? Serious question

Any thoughts on Aubrey?

Not sure yet. Scum can't afford too many townreads on town in this setup so challenging them early is plausible play from scum. At the same time, the "???" isn't how I see scum going about that. Feels more like genuine confusion at how anyone could have a townread so quick. So if I had to guess, maybe town?

{Shoshin, Urap} town bloc

let's gooooooo

i don't agree with your reasoning on slimer. He's still null

BH's entrance pinged me in that I-should-have-known-just-from-RVS sort of way. It's supes awkward.

It also jokingly endorses the whole idea that town should be wary of wasting posts, which encourages lurking discourages discussion. I know that this rule set nominally encourages that behavior which makes BH's comments a little less scum-indicative, but honestly the post restrictions are not that oppressive.

I’m just not seeing a rvs vote as attracting unwanted attention is all. It’s a standard opening.

Are you hungry Aubrey? Did you think it was a good idea to be friends with no lunch?

I believe you're being intentionally obtuse here. Have a banana, I hear they're good brainfood.

Just call me Mr Awkward, I like making jokes and I'm aware that none of them are funny. In fact Awkward is also my middle name.

Brass Conservation Awkward Herald Awkward is what my birth certificate says.

And, Cheeky, I've never heard bananas as brain food. Fish, yes, though.

Something something potassium and action potentials.

Brass any thoughts on our friends here?

My thoughts are some people put way too much weight on RVS votes and I don't trust reads this super early, even my own.

Also I generally have no idea what Aubrey is trying to say. And did not remember there was a person named No Lunch in this game until you voted for him/her.

To use a phrase I have used in the past, and generally explain why I don't get what Aubrey is saying, I'm not getting the plain English meaning of the words he is posting.

When do you start feeling comfortable making reads? Is this something to do with being a lawyer?

How would we ever advance if we all sat around not weighing up people's initial posts?
In post 22, brassherald wrote:I'm not getting the plain English meaning of the words he is posting
Maybe it's the accent. I'm not letting you use this down the line to hedge a stance on our foreign friend btw.

I should save the rest of my posts for the morning. Gn glgl.

I am comfortable making reads, I just question them constantly early on.

People should weigh up initial posts, I just do think there are some who put too much weight into them, and then write long winded posts about them, and those people are more likely scum trying to find an easy read out of nothing.
