Rules, adapted from schadd_ who adapted them from Nexus.

Be nice. It's a game.

General:
- Please adhere to the site rules.
- Do not discuss this game of mafia outside of this thread.
- Day phases will last 7 days (or until a lynch is achieved).
- Night Phases will last 48 hours maximum. On any given night, if all players PM me that they are okay to speed up the night, it will end sooner.
- During night phase, no talking may be done in the thread.
- Do not quote PM's from the mod at all (real or fabricated). Paraphrasing is acceptable.
- If you have any questions about your role, or the game, feel free to PM me.
- "Bah" posts are not allowed.
- Don't publicly talk about potentially replacing out, and don't publicly request for other players to replace out. If you have an issue that may need to be resolved through a replacement, please feel free to bring it up privately with me!
- If you break any of these rules, you may be modkilled (only with a listmod's blessing) or force-replaced.

Voting / Player actions:
- Vote either with vote tags (VOTE: Skygazer) or with bold (
vote: Skygazer
). You may use nicknames and abbreviations if you wish, as long as it's unique to the player and I can figure out who you intended to vote.
- Don't try to confuse me with your votes.
- You may vote No Lynch to Not Lynch.
- A lynch will occur once a majority decision is reached. If no majority is reached by deadline, then no lynch shall occur.
- Following a lynch, it is twilight. You may continue to post until I lock the thread and declare it night.
- If nobody dies for 4 consecutive day and night phases, the town will win.
- If you have a Night Action, you may submit it from Night 1 and each subsequent Night (or whichever nights are specified by the role).
- If you have more than one night specific actions, you may only use one per night unless specified otherwise.

Activity:
- You are expected make a game-state advancing post at least once every 36 hours. If you haven't posted for 36 hours, I shall prod you. If you do not respond to the prod within 24 hours (either in thread if it's Day, or via PM during the Night) then I will replace you.
- As well, if you require more than two prods, I will force-replace you.

Mechanics:
- 0099bb is my color. Feel free to use it if you'd like! Just not in a table with a black background.
- No impossible/hard to read text, or cryptography. For example, I would prefer that no font size smaller than the one you're reading now be used.
- I may make mistakes - please point out any mistakes gently. Mistakes will be corrected where possible, but sometimes mistakes are made that cannot be reversed. These will stand as final to be commiserated over after the game.
- If you need to get the mod's attention, either PM me, or bold the text you wish to draw to my attention.
- I reserve the right to alter/remove/add any rules as I see fit. You will, of course, be notified if that happens, however.
- This game uses the Coalition open set-up. See the following post for details.

The Coalition Set-up

7 Vanilla Townies

2 Mafia Goons

- On day one, in addition to the normal lynch vote, each player may vote on a coalition.
- Use
HEAL:
and
HURT:
tags to add and remove players respectively from your coalition vote.
- If an all-town coalition is passed by a majority of 5 players, the town will win instantly.
- Otherwise, the game will continue as a mountainous game.
- The day one lynch cannot occur until after a coalition has been passed or the deadline is reached (whichever comes first).
- The mafia goons have day-talk.
- You may vote for yourself.

Sample Town PM:

SkygazerWelcome, Skygazer. You are a
Vanilla Townie
.

Abilities
  • You have no abilities other than your voice and your vote.
Win Condition
  • You win if all threats to the town are eliminated and at least one town-aligned player is alive.
  • Additionally, you win if players successfully pass an all-town coalition through a majority vote on day one.
The game thread is here. Please send me a PM confirming your role and alignment.

All Role PMs have been sent out!

agggh this was so close to being micro 888, that would've been so cool !!

The game will start when eight of the nine players confirm.

i wish there was a way to make the black background stretch across the entire post

If you don't confirm within 36 hours you will be replaced!

if you uh have trouble reading this formatting let me know !!

9/9 players have confirmed.

Lil Uzi Vert replaces AzoriusSenate, Gamma Emerald replaces Cyan Talon and Hectic replaces eth0s.

All three of the replaced players failed to open their role PM.

Forwarding Role PMs now, and hopefully the game can get started soon!

What's the optimal approach for setting up our coalition votes?

Starting with 5 seems too hasty to me, but I've never played a game mode like this before.

HEAL: Alchemist, RC most awesomest, NC 39, Gamma Emerald, EspressoPatronum

That’s myself plus the 3 slots I believe to be the strongest slots coming into the game plus Espresso since I liked their entrance.

I think the Coalition should be the 5 strongest/Towniest players not just for the obvious reasons of the D1 wincon but also as a weak investigational tool if it fails - if the Coalition fails we know there’s a deep wolf in a group where we might not otherwise suspect scum to be.

I don’t even know if throwing around lynch votes will be useful until the Coalition is decided on since we can’t lynch before the Coalition is decided.

I promise if it fails I won’t immediately point fingers at your slot because I know how you feel about people lynching you just based on your reputation as a strong scum player.

what's wrong with me doing this? it's essentially equivalent to throwing out a random vote during RVS, it's not like i actually intend for those 5 to go through

i think you're taking it a little too seriously

is it considered a deep wolf if they're just in the top 5 town reads?

regarding the investigation potential, it is useful for knowing there's at least 1 scum in the group, i don't we can even be too confident that there can't be two scum in the 5 we agree on, so the utility isn't actually that useful

i think it's still good go throw around votes to show who we suspect and intend to lynch after we decide on the coalition, it'll be useful later on as well when we look back at wagons and potential bussing

also we can still pressure scum with votes which is always good
