Change in Ban Policy

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Mon Oct 26, 2015 1:47 pm

The following are two changes to our ban policy:

Policy Change

1. Any indefinite or permanent ban from the Discussion forums will now automatically result in a user being banned from the site as a whole as well. The same is not necessarily true of those indefinitely banned from Mafia games and not discussion, but activity on the mafia side if of sufficient severity will still earn a site-wide ban.

2. Any ban that results from a private communication on the site, including PMs and Site Chat, will result in a full site ban for the duration of the ban.

Both of these policies will be applied retroactively. The ban thread will be updated as we sort through these.

Discussion

As it is set up currently, reports are largely divided into Mafia and Discussion, which are reviewed by Listmods and Discussion Mods respectively. This division allows both sets of mods to work quickly and independently in an area they understand well. However, if a user is removed permanently from the discussion side, they should also forfeit their privilege of playing mafia on this site.

PMs are fundamental to playing Mafia as it is how roles are given and often how night actions submitted. Previously, PM bans often led to banning in the discussion area or mafia areas only, but this did not address the actual place where the violation occurred. So please be aware, if you harass someone over PMs, you will likely forfeit not only your discussion privileges, but your PM, Site Chat and Mafia privileges as well.

As a side note, please be aware that mods cannot see PMs until and unless they are reported by one of the users.

This is a change in mod-side policy rather than an actual rule change, but in the interest of transparency, I wanted to make sure it was announced.
