Introducing the New Social Games Forum

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Wed Feb 08, 2017 6:59 am

Post by zoraster »

Large Social Games such as Survivor have become an increasingly large part of the site. Hundreds of players have played in these games, and dozens are frequent players.

These games are described as:
This queue is for Survivor and other Mish Mash games like it. In general, said games take several months to complete, involve 12 or more players, and require a substantial time commitment from players. The primary mechanic of such games is social interaction between players. They are often anonymous and use an offsite forum for this purpose, but do not have to be. If you are unsure whether a game you would like to run falls under the rules of this queue, please send me a PM.This queue is for Survivor and other Mish Mash games like it. Up until now, the Large Social Game queue existed as a subset of Mish Mash with
xofelf
as the list moderator. In order to better organize and integrate the queue into our site, a new forum has been created in service of these games. We have added
Haschel Cedricson
as a co-list mod with her.
CuddlyCaucasian
will remain the list mod in charge of Mish Mash.

It should be noted that most of the games themselves are held off-site to enable moderators to customize the player experience, but the games are organized on mafiascum and largely with mafiascum users.

If you're interested in trying out these games, please find the Large Social Games forum. Currently, Xalxe has opened sign ups to a new game.

So, what is even going to be in the new forum? Just the queue, archives, and maybe the tips thread?
Never be sorry for your little time.

It's not when you get there, it's always the climb.

That's still being worked on, but I wouldn't expect it to become a super active forum on its own. But it'll allow the mods to split off information resources etc. plus potentially add some general survivor discussion. The issue before was that when combined with mush mash, doing too many threads threatens to overwhelm the other game threads. Here, that's not a problem.

I knew there was something fishy about clash of the mash. One moment you are competing, the second moment there's a "secret prize" and you are stuck doing this...

There's a lot of redundancy in this blurb.

Yeah that's not even my blurb. This blurb is better, and more accurate to currently but still subject to change as this was a draft:
Hi! I’m xofelf, and I’m the current Large Social Game Queue moderator. “But what the heck ARE Large Social Games, xof?” You have come to the right post my friend! It’s my literal job function to define and regulate this. A large social game is any game in mish mash with 12 or more players that a) is heavily driven by communication among players in the game and b) contains numerous challenges or mini-games that impact the game in various ways. Games that contain only one of those two elements most likely do not need to go through the queue. And if you’re not sure, you can always ask! The queue exists because these games are quite a time commitment between both the players and the mods and we want to make sure that players can give as much focus to a game mods have poured effort into as possible, while mods can have enough time to perfect their games and their own personal schedules will let them give as much focus to their games as the games and players deserve.

so you're sure that you didn't just write that blurb?
