you know, with this playerlist this game didn't really need to be a geriatric game, and in fact it seems like it might lead to some frustration.

i guess i expected a different playerbase to take interest.

reminds me of blackstar in open 728 – someone who seemingly doesn't really care about how they come off.

It would be kind of weird for them both to come out in strong defense of cheeky with wall posts two minutes apart as a scum team

i think a mistake that i (and perhaps others) consistently make is overestimating the amount of planning that scumteams do

i've done it myself in the last two coalition games and in vanilla 8-ball, and i've seen it in nearly every game i've modded

i think the next time i'm trying to examine something that the scumteam likely discussed in their PT (a nightkill, some kind of choice like vanilla 8-ball or lynchpin, etc.) i should just ask myself: "What is the

simplest possible

theory?"

And nightless games are exactly why townblocs are even stronger for scum, once scum is in there is no paranoia of why haven't one of us been killed yet questions arising that is common in others.

the exact opposite of this is true, in my opinion. town outperforms EV in nightless games exactly

because

town can't get rid of obvious town or strong players. in a nightless game, if there's scum in a townblock then that should be something that becomes apparent as you get closer to the end of the game.

as a piece of advice for geriatric games (or rather just my personal opinion – not like i'm in some special position to give advice) i would say it's probably better to not

really

care about the "10 posts a day" thing that much

dipping into the reserve isn't necessarily something to always be avoided, and unless you're doing so at an unsustainable rate i think it should probably just be something in the back of your mind to look out for and maybe check on every once in a while, rather than the whole "counting all of my posts in a day and stopping at 10" thing

As a further aside from the game, I find it kind of amusing how some players tend to be super active as players yet inconsistently active as mods (RC comes to mind) while others are super active mods yet inconsistently active as players, like NSG. A curious observation to me.

just randomly reading back through the game and i came across this

i've never really thought of myself as someone with "inconsistent activity" although i think from various comments i can glean that that's my image as seen by other people. i would be inclined to say that this is just me being washed up after summer of 2018 but pintu, someone who really played most games with me before summer, expressed something of the same view.

i'm not sure if this is something i should inherently want to change, although i guess i would prefer not to be viewed as a lurker. (not that "inconsistently active" is the same as lurking)

i think my issue with inconsistent activity is more of sometimes just randomly really not feeling good about looking at a thread and having these small breaks of just not being there, rather than a more consistent "pop in with like one post every 47 hours" type of activity

you know okapoka's whole "act really weird and intentionally scummy to try to get heat off of aubrey" thing actually worked really well it seems, much better than i expected or perhaps even okapoka himself expected
