Yeah, sorry guys, but James and I will be V/LA until the 13th.

Is Ico not going to do anything? If not, I can continue the story today.

I honestly don't know what I can do here. I am not flying the plane, there's no threats to deal with. Could do someting funny like jump out of the ship but I think it's a bit early for that kind of shenanigans lol.

[James Brafin]

Lol okay.
Thomas and Inferno land the ship successfully, and they breathe a sigh of relief. Selynee has fallen asleep in her seat, and Ico is now relaxing as well.

Then there is a thrumming from the platform as the shield goes up, protecting you as the storm slams into the landing pad. A knock at the entrance hatch on the ships startles you, and you hear a muffled voice say, "Can I come in?"

[Iconeum]

I take a defensive position and aim my CQB-shotgun (that is loaded) directly at the door where the voice spoke from.

Then I shout back in a deep, threatening voice: '

Who are you, what do you want, and do you have any nice guns for sale?

[Selynee]

The knock wakes me up. I look around, see we are all still alive and then hear the voice outside. So, I ask the first question that comes through my mind

"Are you from Earth or are you born here?"

Thomas looks at the two that have responded and shakes his head. "Mates, you need to act, not speak."

He pulls out his gun, hits the button to open the door and points the gun at whoever is on the other side of the door.

I go stand next to Inferno, and prepare to exit and meet what I hope is our new employer. Not holstering my weapon.

"You don't know this is a friend. We just got here, he could be coming to try to arrest us. I'm not going to prison today!" say Thomas.

[James Brafin]

The man backs away from the door at the sight of all the guns pointed at him. "Whoa! Talk about paranoid. I'm the fellow who called you here, in case you can't tell. I'm one of the few original settlers left in this area."
The man is older, but walks with a natural spring to his step -- somehow he has retained his litheness and flexibility from his younger years. "I'm glad you made it through the storm safely; I've been waiting for you, afraid that you would not make it. Those Elementi can be real pains, can't they?"

[Inferno390]

The... what? I thought there were nanites.

Thomas puts his gun away and looks at the man. "The Elementi are no problem for someone like me, the best pilot in the galaxy. So, what are we here for?"

[Selynee]

"Oh, a settler" I mumble to myself, a bit disappointed.

"Elementi? Can you tell us more about them? I believe I was pretty close to establish a meaningful connection with them. Are there native populations living around here?". After a few seconds I add "And, of course, you should tell us why you've called us here..."

[Iconeum]

I perform a security check around our ship

Iconeum is the only one here with survival sense, I see. Someone should check for hull damage as well.
Other notes: Thomas has a big head.
Selynee: Are you ignoring the fact that those thing s were literally going to EAT US?!?

Thomas starts to work on fixing the ship to the extent it took damage.

"You can talk while I work." He says.

"I'm not saying their instincts didn't tell us we are food. Plus that they probably have a very different understanding of their environment and thus us- I think it might be that they've evolved to see the stimuli in the environment as either "food" or "danger" and simply ignore neutral ones. But you can't deny they posses a form of communication and they shown a certain interest in us"

After a few seconds I add

"if we are ever going to successfully integrate and live our lives here....we should try to find a way to coexist with other beings"

The man nods. "That's what we call the local life forms around here. They're half-organinc, half-inorganic beings that form and live in this area, which we call the Roil because of it's unpredictability and dangerousness."

The man gives Selynee a weird look before he continues. "I've asked you all here to help the local scientists with an interesting development. An ancient temple has been unearthed deeper in the Roil, and the Elementi have become interested in it, congregating around it and protecting in from approach. We'd like to get a look inside at whatever they are protecting, but they become super aggressive whenever we approach. However, we have managed to discover an alternate entrance through a cave system nearby that should be easier to penetrate. We want you to go in and get pictures of the temple, maybe some samples of the stone and stuff from inside, Find out what the native fauna is so interested in, then bring them back here for us to study."

Thomas is able to appraise and repair most of the damage on the ship. He does discover, however, that one of the engines was damaged in the escape. It will still run, but at far lower power, which will slow down the ship. You won't be able to perform a Mach Burst a second time without getting it fixed and perhaps fortified. (Piloting/repair/construct check, 8+ to repair, 13+ to fortify)

Adding a new basic skill: Diplomacy. Allows you to increase the friendliness of sentient beings you meet. Adding all skills to the opening post.

Thomas looks at the settler and says "Well, we are here, I guess we need to do it. Not my type of job, mind you, but I'm still ready for anything. First things first, my girl here needs some more love, Inferno and I can work on it. Needs to be in tip top shape."
