They usually do, but Game of Thrones and BSG both defy that stereotype and are pretty well regarded. GoT is like a much better version of risk

It really is quite fun in its simplicity. After devoting so much time and energy to learning the many ins and outs of magic, it is nice to just...you know, take your turn, then sit back and let your opponent take their turn.

It really is. There's even an online version of some sort nowadays, I believe. I don't know much about it.

I disagree. Both are amazing games with their own pros and cons. I prefer Arkham

slightly

due to the fact that it's co-op the whole way through, as well as having a goal from the start instead of "just wander the house for a while.

But, like, the point of a game is to have fun. And one of the best (and easiest) ways of having fun with a game is through having awesome conversations with your pals. Card games in general are amazing at that sort of thing.

And one of my favorite ways of having fun is having a battle of wits with a friend. Plus, I was in chess club in high school, and that had some of the best group conversations ever. Hold 'em just doesn't hold(heh) my interest for longer than about 10 minutes. I've had way more fun with chess than hold'em in my lifetime.
